Her arms wrapped around his neck, and the pleasure she’d felt as he moved had a sigh escaping from between her lips. The head of his cock slid back and forth inside her slick channel now that he was rock hard and ready to go.

But before he tossed her onto his bed, he withdrew and set her onto the mattress. Eric followed her down and crawled on top of her, caging her in with his big body.

Brushing the hair back from her face with a tenderness she hadn’t known she craved from him, he kissed the tip of her nose, and asked, “What are you doing at Poles?”

A sinking sensation hit her mid-section like a hammer. That was the last thing she expected to talk about tonight. Maybe when they were at the club but after that kiss, and after arriving back at his apart

ment, she hadn’t thought about Poles. Him asking her while he pushed her into the mattress of his bed with his naked body didn’t sit well with her. It felt like he’d planned to ask her all along but wanted to bring her defenses down before he did.

Did he think she’d lie to him if he’d asked earlier?

“Sylvia, you’re thinking too hard. Just spit it out so I can fuck you again.” He rubbed against her heat, and a moan escaped her lips.

“It’s only temporary,” she started, and moistened her lips with the tip of her pink tongue.

His eyes followed.

She continued, “I stumbled into the job really. Talya was already working behind the bar, so I’d go in for an hour or so. One night, Yuri and Talya were talking and it came up that I’d been having pole dancing lessons. Kind of. For exercise.” She paused, feeling uncomfortable talking about her reasons for working at Poles while they were on Eric’s bed, naked. It wasn’t the kind of conversation to have right now.

Eric sensed her discomfort because he jumped from the bed and grabbed one of his discarded shirts. Back on the bed, he rested against the headboard, and pulled Sylvia onto his lap. His cock throbbed between them, but he seemed to want to ignore his aroused flesh while he helped her into his shirt.

She grinned, and he smirked in response.

“Now talk, woman.”

She sighed. “I just kind of fell into it at the thought of the extra money I could make. I’d seen a cottage in the countryside one weekend and it made me crave having that. You know, a small place to call my own. But I fell in love with that little cottage. It needs a lot of work, but only a couple more months at Poles and then I’ll have the down payment and I can leave.”

Sylvia paused and she chewed the side of her lip before she continued, “Yuri, knows that it’s only temporary and he’s good with that. Actually, I think he’d be good with anything if Talya got involved.” She smiled. “I only dance once, the night I’m scheduled to work, because Yuri knows how much out of my comfort zone I am. He’s a good guy really.”

“His family is really bad, Sylvia. You need to remember that.” Eric frowned. “I don’t like the idea of you shimmying around the stage half naked. What do the McKenzies think about it?”

She wouldn’t meet his gaze.

“Sylvia? They know right?”

“No.” She met his gaze. “It’s temporary and the last thing I need is anyone on my case. I’m a grown woman and don’t take orders too kindly.”

There was no way Eric couldn’t hear the warning in her words or tone, and with his arched brow, he understood—loud and clear.

If this was all she had, then she didn’t want to waste the rest of the night talking. She didn’t want a minute wasted.

Reaching between them just as Eric opened his mouth to speak, she rubbed the flared head of his dick. He groaned and shivered, flexing his hands on Sylvia’s thigh.

“Don’t think I’ve forgotten what we were talking about,” Eric murmured. He quickly turned the tables and had Sylvia flat on her back with him looming over her. He licked his lips, and bent to her nipples, everything else forgotten as his mouth sucked one large pebble inside.

Chapter Five

Sitting on his favorite chair in the living room, with a steaming cup of coffee in his hands, Eric wondered what the hell was wrong with him. Last night had been great but he’d fallen into old habits by morning.

He’d woken up and heard the rustle as Sylvia raced around his place finding her clothes before she’d snuck out of his apartment. And he’d pretended to still be asleep. She frightened him, and made him act differently when he was around her.

Last night was supposed to be a one-night stand, and the way he had acted had told her it was but now…now he wasn’t sure. While he sat on his own, he craved her company. He’d enjoyed having her in his apartment. No one had ever been inside before, other than his cousin, Ramon, and his sister.

But he wanted Sylvia in his domain again, and he had no intention of being a total ass next time by pretending to sleep. He’d wake her with his body before he’d cook her breakfast. He liked to cook, but he always took breakfast seriously because if he didn’t, he’d be hungry for the rest of the day.

How to go about getting her again was something that he needed to think about. She wouldn’t be so easy to come with him next time, and he only had himself to blame for that.

He wasn’t used to wanting the company of the same woman over and over again, but he had a feeling that after a couple of times with Sylvia, he’d still be wanting the woman.
