Love in Game (De La Fuente Family 6)

“I can tell you lots of stories about Kasey when he was younger.” Mateo grins while cradling his small daughter against his chest. “Like that time he thought it would be fun to moon those nuns.”
“Why did you have to go there?” I groan and shake my head, watching Felicity trying to hide her laughter behind her hands. Everyone else laughs openly, even Mom who I remember being mortified at the time as she dragged us away. “What Mateo is leaving out is that he had this huge crush on one of them.”
Mateo glares but it’s his wife who makes me laugh when she giggles next to him, shaking her head.
“You had it real bad for a nun?” Erin asks him, amusement dancing in her gaze.
Mateo cringes. “I was a fifteen year old adolescent.” He shrugs. “Need I say more, however, she wasn’t as hot as you are, babe.” He makes puppy dog eyes at his wife, who places her palms on his face and gives him a sloppy kiss.
“Nice save, Bro,” Diego drawls.
Leaning closer to Felicity, I kiss her on the side of her head and whisper, “Are you having a good time?” My fingers play with the long strands of her hair.
She places her hand on my thigh and settles against me. “I am.” Smiling, she adds, “Your family is amazing.”
“Our family.” After kissing her again, I mention, “I think Blake has enjoyed dinner.”
She glances at her brother and smiles when he catches her eye. “I think he’s about done though.”
“Everyone will be making a move soon, so let’s walk Blake back to his room and then go to ours. I want you to myself.”
Felicity’s eyes widen and I frown, wondering at her response when she adds, “We are not doing anything in that room but sleep.”
That’s what she thinks.
“Oh God,” Emelia shouts, startling everyone.
Dante jumps up and stills beside her. “Now?” he questions, his usually tanned skin, pale.
Emelia looks around the table and starts laughing and then loses all color. “Oh God.”
“You’ve already said that.” Mateo raises a brow without any concern and Erin clonks him on the arm. “What was that for?
“Do I need to remind you about the time that you nearly passed out while I was in labor?”
Mateo winces. “I remember clearly. It wasn’t fun in the slightest watching you in so much pain.”
“Now,” Emelia growls, “isn’t the time to mention pain…Ouch.” She jumps up as though she’s been jabbed in the ass.
“Fuck! We need to go to the hospital. Now,” Dante says, having finally pulled himself together.
“No,” Emelia states.
“What the fuck, Sis. You have to go, and now,” Diego jumps up ready to haul her from the chair.
All of a sudden she bursts into tears and I feel Felicity sliding her hand into mine, our fingers intertwine.
“All of you, give your sister some space,” Lucia pushes Diego out of the way and crouches in front of Emelia, taking her hands. “Listen honey, you are only three weeks early, okay? And weren’t you telling me the other day that at your last check up they said you had a big baby in there.” She smiles. “Everything is going to be all right, but if we don’t get you to the hospital, your husband is going to have a heart attack.”
“What a pussy,” Mateo comments.
Erin clears her throat, which shuts him up as he wraps an arm around her before slapping a kiss to her lips.
Quickly kissing Felicity on the cheek, I move over and help Blake to reverse in his chair to get out of the way. He looks lost sitting in the middle of Emelia’s panic with everyone surrounding them.
“Thanks,” he says, cleari
ng his throat. “I think I’ll get out of everyone’s way and head to bed.”
