Love in Game (De La Fuente Family 6) - Page 48

I yank my briefs and jeans up, wincing when my hand comes into contact with my dick. Ignoring the throb, I shove my arms into my shirt and then turn to help Felicity. “Who do you think it is?” she whispers.

“I don’t know. Mateo maybe…here let me.” I zip her back into her jeans while she pulls her shirt on, and once we’re dressed, I tug her into my arms and kiss her softly on the lips. “Love you, babe.”

“Shit.” I lift my eyes and meet the amused expression on Eric’s face before my gaze lands on Sylvia. Eric looks haphazardly put together, which raises a brow. “We didn’t mean to interrupt.”

“Hmm, I think by the look of your shirt that we’re not the only ones to be interrupted.” Laughing, I keep an arm around Felicity. “You got here quickly.”

“We flew out of Lexington as soon as we could. We slept most of the way on the plane.”

“You guys need to move closer,” I point out.

Eric drawls, “Says the guy who lives in New York.”

“For now,” I add, caressing down Felicity’s hair that trails freely down her back. “Hopefully we’ll be back here once my contract’s over.”

Felicity smiles and real happiness reaches her eyes. Kissing the side of her head, we move from the barn and with a backward glance, I shout, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Chuckling, we walk out into the heat of the day.

“Did you mean that?” Felicity asks. “Did you mean that we’d move back here?”

“That’s only if you want to. After I’ve seen out my contract we can live anywhere, but it would be nice to be around our family.” I squeeze her shoulders. “I’m hoping that Blake falls in love with the place so that he wants to stay around here too. I want this to be where we call home, for all of us.”

“You’re really good to us.” Her grin speaks volumes and her happiness is contagious.

I pull Felicity to a stop and placing my palms gently against her face, I tell her, “I love you and that means I want you happy. I know you’ve been alone with your brother for years, so being part of a large family might take some getting used to, but you’re no longer alone, Felicity.”

Reclaiming her lips, I angle her head in just the right position to deepen the kiss. Her plump lips entice me to do so much more with their taste and the way that they cling to mine. Our tongues slide together and my arousal for my woman rises. Literally.

She moves closer and pressing against me, dips her hands into the back of my jeans. “Ugh,” I growl against her kissed-reddened lips. “You make me hard.”

“I can feel.” She chuckles and sighing, takes her hands from my jeans and rests her face against my chest. “I really do love it around here.” Lifting her gaze she asks, “Can we go into town and have a look around?”

“Let’s have lunch with Blake and then I’ll take you. We’ll ask your brother to come with us as well. Get him out of the house for a bit.”

Her sigh of pleasure tells me how happy she is right now, and that makes me happy too. It also makes me dread heading back to New York with her. I want her with me and I feel that I’m being selfish expecting her to be happy in the city when deep down I know that she won’t be. Seeing her here at my family home, she’s happy. Her favorite spot is sitting on the porch swing that Dad built for Mom so many years before.

This morning I found her on the swing nursing a cup of coffee with a blanket around her shoulders as she watched the sunrise. She’d confessed that she hadn’t wanted to go back inside because of the quiet outside. That wouldn’t happen in New York, and I’m not sure how to handle that or how to make sure that she is happy in the city.

She’d be happy with me, of that I was certain but what about when I was at an away game? Or when I spent most of my days training? She’d be alone a lot of the time and that’s been bothering me.

“What are you thinking so deeply about?” She tickles me in the ribs.

Chuckling at her cheeky smile, I start moving her toward the house, keeping an arm around her shoulders. “I’m thinking about you.” I smile. “Just like I always am.” I avoid the topic for now.

She presses against my waist and then pauses when Violet Flowers walks out of the house. Her face is flushed and she seems pissed about something, or rather someone.

Noticing us watching her, she stops in her tracks and pulls herself together.

“How’s it going?” Felicity asks.

“It’s, um, going,” Violet answers, throwing a heated glare back at the house.

I throw my head back and laugh, which neither of them appreciates. “Sorry.” I chuckle. “Blake is being a pain in the ass, huh?”

Felicity drops her arm from around my waist and takes a step back, her gaze focused on Violet.

“That’s an understatement,” Violet mumbles. “I’ll be back for more torture tomorrow.” We watch her go.

Felicity frowns, and with a heavy sigh heads inside while I watch her go. I’m not sure what just happened. One minute we were happy, and the next it was as though I didn’t exist.
