Love in Surrender (De La Fuente Family 8)

“Violet,” he groans. “If you don’t stop looking at me like that, I’m taking you back to bed.” He smirks. “Although I think the couch would work.”
“Perhaps I should have put more clothing on,” I suggest biting my lip.
Blake adjusts himself and shrugs. “Okay, so Boston, huh?”
I nod. “They’ve offered me a generous salary with a chance to work my way into a higher position. They’ll provide temporary accommodation, the vacation days are more than usual, and one of the benefits I see straightaway is that you’ll be covered under family. I asked Rich Lovatt.”
I sigh and meet Blake’s concerned gaze. “I’ve waited a long time to be with you Blake, so if we don’t do this together then we don’t do it at all.” He blinks in surprise and I realize what I said. “I mean the job,” I quickly clarify. “The job Blake. If you don’t want to leave your family and friends, then I stay here with you,” I clarify quickly.
“I don’t want to be responsible for you losing out on this opportunity,” he says quietly. Glancing away he swallows hard and says, “I have more feeling back in my left thigh.”
I blink a few times trying to focus and then I can’t keep the smile off of my face. “You do?” Sliding from the couch, I knee-walk to him, settling between his spread legs. “What about the pins and needles,” I ask, my hand hovering over his thigh.
“They went crazy at the beginning of the week, but with the massage before and after the work out, they’ve started to ease. My right isn’t reacting the same though.”
I take his hands and intertwine them tightly with mine. “Any sign is better than none.” I kiss his fingers. “How do you feel about it?”
He smiles. “I’m really hoping it continues but at the same time I’m afraid it won’t.” His smile wavers as he shrugs, except I know Blake. He’s trying to hide his fear behind nonchalance.
“I know you’re probably sick of hearing this, but it really is one day at a time. I’m by your side no matter what happens, okay?”
He searches my gaze. “Okay.” His lips twitch as he says, “You better accept that job before they offer it to someone else.”
“What?”
“I’ll miss my sister, and her new family, but we can video chat and visit.” He cups my cheek with a large palm. “Now I’ve stopped being an asshole, I don’t want to be anywhere you are not. I’m certainly not going to hold you back from a job opportunity that might not happen again.” His hand curls gently around my neck and he brings me closer, until our lips are a mere breath away.
“A new start, babe.”
“Hmm,” I murmur as our lips brush together. “You really are going to come with me?”
“Try and stop me,” he whispers.
“Put some clothes on we’re coming in,” Kasey hollers from the porch.
Blake laughs when my cheeks heat in embarrassment.
Kasey walks in carrying the car seat with his gorgeous daughter asleep inside it, and his other arm is wrapped around his wife. She certainly doesn’t look like she had only given birth a week ago.
Squeezing my hand, Blake keeps it wrapped up in his, and kisses my knuckles. I don’t miss the glee on Felicity’s face as she looks between the two of us.
“We have something to tell you,” Blake says.
Instead of sitting apart, I move to his lap and kiss his cheek.
“You’re pregnant?” Kasey suggests wiggling his brows.
“Not enough time for that.” Felicity narrows her gaze. “Was there?”
“I’m not pregnant.”
Blake places his hand on my belly and spreads his fingers. “She isn’t pregnant yet … not through lack of trying though.” He grins and while I’m blushing I roll my eyes at the testosterone fueled man currently sporting a hard-on beneath me.
Teasing him, I wiggle as though I need to get comfortable and hear a quiet hiss in my ear while his hand clamps around my waist.
“You were saying?” Felicity prompts.
Clearing his throat, Blake says, “Violet has an amazing job offer in Boston.”
