And there it was, in the pit of my belly, a feeling I'd never felt before. Not in all my years of living.

Jealousy.

CHAPTER EIGHT - MORGAN

When I'd mentioned I had Tyler's number, something flashed in those baby blue eyes of Dr. Pierce's. Was Gavin Pierce jealous of Tyler? While yes, Tyler was an attractive man, he wasn't my type. For one thing, I had no intention of dating a patient. It was unethical, and unlike my esteemed boss, I wasn't about to mix business and pleasure.

But I did have a plan to keep my boss – and my internship – on solid footing.

I called Tyler and asked him to meet with me for lunch. He was happy to oblige; a little too eager, actually. He was probably already thinking about how perfect of a revenge plot getting me into the sack would be. Alas, I wasn't about to play along. The last thing I wanted was to be caught up in somebody else's drama.

“You're fine with Tyler,” I said, coming back after lunch. “He's not going to the press or anything like that. We talked it out and everything's good.”

“Why would you do that?” he asked me. “Seriously, Morgan, I don't understand.”

“Sometimes good people mess up,” I said, shrugging as I sat down across from him. “And while you tried hard to convince me you're a horrible human being, I've seen a side of you that proves otherwise. Besides, I really don't want to work underneath anyone else in the industry. You're it for me. I am learning so much from you and I don't want to see that come to a crashing end. So, it was partially selfish too.”

Gavin stood up and walked over to me, a serious look on his face. “I truly don't deserve you, Morgan,” he said. “I don't understand why you're still so nice to me, after everything I've done and put you through.”

“Because some people deserve a second chance,” I said, laughing and recalling how he described me on day one. “Yeah, call me naive or say I'm all sunshine and rainbows, I know.”

I stared up at him and found myself blushing as I looked into those deep, blue eyes of his. He looked so different from that first day when all I really saw was that arrogant grin. He actually looked handsome – like the type of man I could see myself falling for. “You know, Morgan,” Gavin said, leaning against his desk, not far from me. He crossed his hands in front of his chest and smiled, a sincere smile for a change. “I could kiss you right now.”

My lips yearned to feel his against mine. I fought so hard for this internship, even fought to keep his reputation on good terms, and there I was fantasizing about kissing him, risking ruining it all.

“Then why don't you?” I said, whispering the words before I knew what I was saying.

“You mean that?” he asked, cocking his head to the side.

“Maybe?” I teased. Gavin stood up and walked over to me, pulling me to my feet and standing me in front of him. He looked me in the eyes as he leaned forward.

“I'm waiting for you to pull back and slap me,” he said quietly.

“I'm waiting for that too, actually,” I joked. “Because I know this is bad.”

“It's very bad,” he said.

“Good thing you're not known for being good,” I said, leaning close enough to feel his breath on my face.

Gavin closed the distance between us, pressing his lips to mine and taking my breath away with his kiss. He held my head in his hands, his fingers tangled in my hair as his tongue pressed between my lips.

He kicked the office door closed, muttering about Lila not coming in until later. He turned me toward his desk, and I backed up until I was sitting down upon it. I was suddenly so happy that I decided to wear a skirt that day.

“Do you have any morning appointments?” I asked as he slipped my shirt off over my head.

“Nope, just surgery this afternoon,” he said.

“Good,” I said, unbuttoning his pants as quickly as possible. “So, it's just you and me today?”

“It is,” he said, kissing down the length of my neck.

I shuddered against him, my pussy growing wetter at the thought of fucking him right there, on his desk. I knew it was bad, I knew I should stop it, but I'd never done anything like it before and my body was on autopilot. No lick of common sense was going to stop me now.

Gavin lifted my skirt up, pulled my panties down and before I knew what hit me, his cock was pressing against my opening. He stared into my eyes and asked me one last time.

“You sure you want to do this?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said, even though I should have said no. “Yes, please.”
