“I spend a lot of time in here,” I said to Luke when he made his way inside. Neo had gotten bored with him too and was now inside exploring. I was sure I would find him asleep on the couch by the time we made it to the living room. “Most of the books were already here when I moved in. I added a couple hundred more from my own collection,” I said, not being able to contain the smile that formed on my face every time I looked at it.

“I can see this room makes you happy,” Luke said with a low voice that caused me to turn and look at him. Before I knew what was happening I was in his arms. One of his hands held the back of my neck, while the other lifted my chin. We were so close I could feel his heart beating through his shirt. Suddenly his lips were on mine. His tongue invaded my mouth, kissing me harshly. The taste of him was overwhelming. The smell of him was intoxicating. I fell limp in his arms allowing my hands to slowly explore all over his chest and arms. He deepened the kiss, stroking his tongue over and over mine. Man this guy knew how to kiss. My nipples betrayed me by hardening through my shirt and the sheer pleasure I got from them rubbing against his chest made me moan into his mouth causing him to kiss me harder. I could feel him hardening through his worn jeans, and at that moment all I wanted was him. He must not have wanted the same thing. He pulled away from my body, but still holding my face planted sweet tender kisses on my mouth.

“Let’s eat,” he announced. Leaning down he grabbed the bag of food and headed toward the kitchen leaving me standing there breathless. I walked into the kitchen to find him staring up at my collection of champagne flute sets above the cabinets. “Celebrating something?” he asked with a tone in his voice I couldn’t recognize. Jealousy maybe?

“The New Year. It’s a tradition. Every New Year’s Eve, I set my alarm clock to wake up just in time to have a glass of champagne to ring in the New Year,” I said, feeling stupid for sharing the fact that I was such a loser that I sat at home on New Year’s Eve alone.

“But there are two in each set you have,” he said, matter-of-fact.

“You ever tried buying a set of one?” I asked getting defensive once again. What did it matter to him anyway?

“So let me get this straight,” he said setting the food out on the bar while I got some plates out of the cabinet. “You have stayed at home every year for the past six years, alone, and drank champagne at approximately midnight to ring in the New Year?”

“Correct,” I replied rummaging through the refrigerator to try and find something to drink.

“Hmmm, ok,” he replied tersely.

I decided to drop the subject and not over think his comment. What the hell was wrong with me? Since when did I want to avoid confrontation? The thought was disturbing, but I pushed it back afraid that if I thought too much on it I would be scared of the conclusion.

“How about we eat then I’ll take you on the grand tour,” I said, to deter him from the subject.

“Sounds great,” he said, taking a seat at the bar.

I grabbed the plates, silverware and two bottles of water and joined him. The food was delicious. The steak cooked to perfection and the still warm, loaded potato was everything a carb should be. We ate in silence-probably both trying to figure out what in the hell we were doing, and how we had gotten ourselves where we are now. It seemed we didn’t have a lot to talk about. Mostly because he knew everything about me and I knew nothing about him. I knew what it was like to be hounded for information you didn’t want to freely give, and I was not going to put him in that position. I figured if and when he wanted me to know something about him he would tell me.

Right now I was content with knowing that he was sexy as hell, could kiss better than any man I knew, and wanted to spend another day with me. I stole a glance at him while he drained the last of his water and noted how his throat moved when he swallowed. Shit, he was even sexy when he ate. I was suddenly not hungry anymore for food. All I wanted was him to bend me over, right here on this bar, and fuck me.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked, ruining my day dream and bringing me back to the real world.
