The End of Us (Love in Isolation 3) - Page 33

Tristan groans, pressing into me. “You have to stop that, or I’ll—”

A knock rattles on the front door before it cracks open. Before I can climb off his lap, Tristan throws me across the couch. I bang my head on the armrest and whimper at the instant loss of him.

“Hello, it’s just me,” Easton calls out. “I brought the goods!”

“Fuck,” I hear Tristan mutter as he adjusts his erection, trying to hide how hard he is.

Easton enters carrying a paper bag and stops when he spots me lying awkwardly on the sofa. I didn’t bother moving or adjusting myself since I was in complete shock that Tristan nearly tossed me to another planet.

He gives me a look, noticing how flushed I am, then I finally sit up and flash him a smile.

“I didn’t know you were coming today,” I say, trying to hide the unpleasant tone in my voice.

“Yeah, I know, but I got my shift covered so I could stop by a day early.”

“Maybe a warning text next time. I nearly grabbed my gun,” Tristan says.

He removed his holster before sitting on the couch, but it’s still within arm’s reach. We both know that’s not what he was thinking about the moment Easton entered.

“Sorry, man.” Tristan walks to the kitchen, then looks over his shoulder at me while he sets the bag down. “I have more groceries in the car.”

Once he leaves, I take the opportunity to clean up the board game. Tristan and I stay silent as we wait for Easton to return. Once everything’s on the counter, I help unload it.

“I brought you a surprise,” Easton says with a grin.

“Me? What is it?” I ask, excited.

He digs in the last bag and pulls out a royal blue two-piece. “Brought you one of the shop’s hottest summer items. Figured you’d need a real swimsuit in case Mr. Grouchy loosens the reins, and you wanna go jump some waves or catch some rays.”

My jaw drops as I eye the gorgeous fabric. “You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now!”

He hands it over, and I give him a hug. “I was just begging him earlier to let me go take a quick dip.”

“It’s not safe,” Tristan blurts out, scowling and staring at how close Easton and I are.

“Well regardless, I’m wearing it. Whether it’s around the house or on the beach.” I smirk.

“So, what’s for dinner?” Easton asks, breaking the awkward tension filtering through the air.

“Well, since you brought ground beef, I’ll make some cheeseburgers and fries,” Tristan responds, keeping his back to me as he shoves food in the fridge.

“I’m gonna go try this on. I’ll be back in a bit,” I say, grabbing my phone and giving them privacy. As confident as I felt earlier about climbing onto his lap, I am embarrassed about it now. I may be inexperienced, but I know he feels the same. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have responded the way he did. The moment I touched him, his cock swelled, and there’s no denying he liked it.

I might get burned in the end, but at least I can say I wasn’t scared to put my heart on the line.

If only he’d take a risk with me and give in to what we both crave.

CHAPTER TWELVE

TRISTAN

DAY 16

The day after Easton brought us groceries, he called and tore me a new one. Then I bitched him out for bringing Piper a swimsuit when I strictly told him not to. She’s been begging to go to the beach for the past three days.

Apparently, he saw us through the window before walking in, and I know things would’ve escalated had he not come. He lectured me—not about crossing the lines—because he’s concerned that she’ll be the one hurt in the end. Inevitably, Piper will take a piece of me with her when our time is over. Not to mention, if her father finds out, he could blackball me from being a bodyguard for anyone else.

Surprisingly, Piper hasn’t mentioned what happened between us, and I fully expected her to. By how she avoided eye contact during dinner, I could tell she wasn’t happy. By the next morning, she was back to her usual self.

My phantom pains have been intense today, so I’ve tried to stay busy and walk around to manage it. The only time it’s not bothering me is when Piper and I hang out. Listening to her talk about her childhood and lifestyle, what she enjoys about filming, and other random stuff keeps my mind off it long enough to ignore it. Now I crave being around her, not just to ease the pain but also because she intrigues me.

For the past three days, I haven’t stopped thinking about the way she devoured my lips while boldly grinding against my cock. My only regret is not kissing her back.
