Chapter 14

Mason

I'm sitting across the street from the offices of Sienna Sinner at a small corner cafe. I look around me and wonder if anyone is approaching and then I stop myself because I have no real reason to be paranoid. No one should even know that we're here. No one should know what we're trying to pull off. If everything goes according to the plan, and we absolutely made sure that we had all our details down properly then no one will even know that we came in, got what we wanted, and then got out.

And damn straight we made sure about everything we were going to need. That was before the three-way blowjob. I swear to God, that was fucking intense. I've never been in a situation like that. I swear to God I've never even met a woman like that. Where the hell has Cara been all my fucking life?

I bet the same thing could actually be said for Derek and Parker. They're probably wondering where the fuck Cara has been their lives.

She's changed all of our lives in the short time that we've known her.

Every single one.

That's when I'm interrupted in my thoughts by none other than Sienna Sinner.

Holy fucking Christ—I didn't see that one coming. I'm sitting here in New York City. Isn't she supposed to be in Florida?

"I never went to the Shameless Book Signing," she says to me with an evil smile as if she's able to read my mind.

I try to keep a steady composure and a flat and neutral expression. I can't let on that Derek is upstairs. I have to keep her here as long as I can until he can get the flash drive....

"I have your little toy right here," Sienna says and I start to wonder if maybe she can actually read my fucking thoughts. "Derek handed it over with almost no persuasion once he realized that I witnessed the whole thing. And I have multiple angles as I recorded a former employee coming into my offices and then tampering with proprietary technology that contained trade secrets. Then I have him attempting to steal this information."

I'm quiet. There's nothing I can say that won't incriminate Derek.

"Who else is working with you, Mason?" Sienna asks me, leaning over and all of a sudden I'm acutely aware of the low cut blouse that she's wearing. "Tell me what the end goal was in this?"

There's no fucking way I'm telling her but I keep my mouth shut.

"Why was my former employee trying to steal information from me and why are you sitting here?" she asks again, batting her eyelashes at me.

Is she fucking hitting on me?

A part of me isn't shocked. I mean, look at me.

But there’s something more about the way she’s looking at me that makes me take a pause.

I watch as she scoots her chair over toward mine. My eyes travel down as I see her put her hand on my thigh and give it a squeeze. She smiles lasciviously at me.

Before Cara? I may have considered pulling her close and kissing her while I grabbed her ass and fondled her tits. After? Not a fucking chance.

“You know, we’re on the same side at the end of the day,” she purrs. “I’m sure we could have a lot to offer each other if we just put the past aside.”

Her hand starts climbing up my thigh and I know in just a few seconds she’s going to be squeezing my cock through my pants.

That same cock that Cara was sucking so well. The same cock that fucking belongs to her now.

And I know right then what I need to do.

“We’re not on the same side, Sienna,” I say and her eyes flash at me. “We never were.”

She pauses her hand and it rests where it is, no longer squeezing my thigh as she looks at me.

“See, I want to help legitimate authors,” I say to her and continue forcefully. “And once upon a time you were a legit author. You had a lot of promise and potential. Everyone could see that.”

She smiles wanly. I think she’s remembering the times back in the day. When we used to try and run box sets together, collecting other authors and planning the Facebook parties in the various groups. When we got USA Today Bestsellers together.

But all that changed.
