So here I am. Outside her apartment. Waiting for her to come out. Wondering if maybe we can have more than one night. I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking for, but I know it’s more of her.
The door of her building swinging open grabs my attention, and I turn to find her standing there, eyes wide and mouth open.
“Zander?”
I rake a hand over my jaw. “Hey.”
“What are you doing here?”
I go for a grin, trying to eliminate any tension,
knowing I can give off a threatening vibe.
“I thought you might want to grab some breakfast with me.” I shrug. “I didn’t have your number, so…” I grin wryly. Yeah. Like that explains away the stalkerish waiting on her doorstep.
To my relief, she smiles. A bit timidly, but it’s still a smile.
“I figured I’d probably never see you again.”
I step up to her, my hand acting as if it has a mind of its own as it reaches out to tuck a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Her smile widens. “I’ll say that I’d really love to have breakfast with you.”
Hell yeah. It’s a start, in any case.
We have breakfast, and just like before, we aren’t at a loss for anything to talk about. It’s funny. Something about her has me feeling both on edge and more settled than I’ve felt in a long time.
I walk with her to the metro station when she says she needs to get to work. I chuckled at breakfast when she said she’s a VIP liaison at Madison Square Garden. It’s fitting. When I stop at the stairwell leading underground, she turns to me a bit shyly. “I hope I can see you again.”
There’s nothing more I want to hear at that moment. Pulling her to me, I grip her hips and lower my head until my mouth is inches from hers. “Name the time and place.”
She bites her lip again, that same gesture that drove me crazy when I first saw her on the train. “Tomorrow night? There’s an event at The Garden, and I have tickets to a private box.”
“Perfect.” I kiss her, soft and teasingly, hoping I leave her wanting more of me as much as I want more of her.
She disappears down the stairs, and I smile as I walk down the bustling street, already anticipating tomorrow night.
Madison
I laugh at Zander’s expression as the show begins. I didn’t tell him yesterday what the tickets were for.
“Didn’t realize it was a rodeo, did you?” I tease, bumping him with my shoulder. “Regretting agreeing to come yet?”
He arches a cocky eyebrow. “Not if it means I get to sit here next to you in a private box.”
Warmth spreads through me. Who would have thought that nearly getting mugged would lead to this? Not me, that’s for sure.
I also never expected what I thought was one night might turn into something more. But that’s exactly what I want right now.
Something about the way Zander totally commanded my body made me feel vulnerable and exposed, while protected at the same time. I have no idea where this might go, but I’m game to find out.
And, it seems, he is too.
I couldn’t care less about the rodeo going on down on the floor—well, other than the fucking hot cowboys with their shirts off—so when Zander’s hand starts to tease my thigh, I’m totally up for whatever he has in mind.
We’re the only ones in the box, so I grab his hand and pull him back to the couch that’s near the back, out of sight of anyone who might be looking.
A thrill races through me as he crushes his mouth to mine, his hand exploring higher, stroking lightly on my inner thigh until he’s teasing and brushing lightly at my pussy.
