“No flowers, more relaxing getaway gifts. Got it.” My fingers dance up her side. “Mind if I stay in here until right before everyone wakes up?”
She seems to think about it for a moment before saying, “Under one condition: you have to let me make up for being a little crazy today.”
Smiling, I lean forward, my lips brushing hers. “We’re supposed to be crazy, remember?” As I press my mouth fully against hers, I roll her over onto her back, lying flush with her body. I haven’t quite figured out what it is about this woman, but the longer I’m around her, the more I want her and everything that comes with her.
Lexie’s hands move down my back, the tips of her fingers slightly digging into my skin along the way. I kiss her jaw, her neck, and then move to her chest. God, she’s wearing some silky nightie thing again. My thumb brushes over her nipple over the fabric and I murmur, “Is this what you always wear to bed?”
“Mhm.”
I travel back up to kiss her hard, letting my hand slide further down. “Fuck, you’ll kill me if you ever dress sexier than this.” Her little gown has risen up, causing my hand to run over the bare skin at her hip. As slow as possible, I inch my hand closer to her middle, my fingers brushing her panties. “Too fast?” I lean back a little to watch her reaction. Her eyes open wider, her breath comes in shallower intervals, and her grip tightens on my back. “Or,” I start, barely touching her as I move my hand between her thighs, “should I go even slower?”
With my words, my finger
s deliberately and leisurely massage her as her panties begin to dampen beneath my touch. Lexie briefly closes her eyes when I add more pressure. She’s too beautiful not to watch. Those eyes flash open again. She moves to grasp the back of my neck, kissing me fiercely once more. When she starts to move her hips against my hand, I pull away. The kissing stops immediately.
I peck her lips quickly. “Slow, remember?” Whispering in her ear, I add, “Besides, if I keep going, you’ll end up moaning and screaming and wake everyone up.”
Her sigh is heavy, but breathy. “You’re right.” Lying on her side, she tucks herself into my arms.
“Good night, Lexie.”
“G’night, Ashton.” After ten minutes of silence, I’m almost asleep when she speaks softly, sounding almost asleep herself. “I won’t push you away, so I want you to do something for me.”
“What’s that?”
“Don’t let me walk away.”
Instead of answering, I tug her closer and kiss the top of her head. That is definitely something I can do.
Chapter Seventeen
Lexie
“Mommy, Jax is funny.” Sadie is on the floor laughing loudly. Jax has been wrestling with them all day. He’s actually sweating.
“All right. I’m done,” he pants, falling on the couch next to me. Jax Godwin is sitting next to me. I can’t help that I keep staring at him. I can’t believe it. “Are you having fun, Lexie?”
I nod, not able to speak. I mean, come on, it’s Jax Godwin.
“Hey, I know that it’s really none of my business, but Ashton is like my brother. He’s a really great guy.” He has whisper to me, so the kids won’t hear.
“I know,” I tell him. I do know that he is, and after last night, my worries seem to be less today. For now, anyway.
“Where are Sadie and Reed?” Brooke yells from the kitchen.
“Here,” the kids holler back at her.
She comes back in. Even with her hair up in a messy bun and ripped jeans, she looks like she belongs on a magazine cover.
“Let’s get ready to go to the movies.” She claps her hand together. The kids get up from the floor and bolt for the bedroom to get ready.
“Brooke, Tiff and I are coming too. Gonna give the lovebirds some time alone.” He nods over at me. I feel the heat burn my cheeks.
“Well, hurry up,” she says and turns on her heel, leaving the room.
“Have fun,” Jax sings out at me, following Brooke out of the room.
This was all prearranged; Ashton told me this morning over breakfast. It doesn’t mean we are going to have sex, even though I really want to.
