“I like the sound of that,” she says with a grin, leaning down to kiss me. Our tongues slide against each other as the kiss goes soft and sweet, full of emotion, her fingers tangling in my hair. My hands move from her thighs to her ass, memorizing the feel of her skin and the sensation of being this close to her again.

“Guide me inside of you, Luna,” I urge her, leaning into her ear to give my command.

Her body shudders, her nipples hard and I know she’s as turned on as I am. She lifts up on her knees, her hand wraps around my cock and I feel the head brush against the wet lips of her pussy and groan at how good just that small amount of friction is. Just as she’s about to slide down on my cock the doorbell rings.

“No,” she cries, her body freezing with the sound of the doorbell.

“Ignore it,” I urge her. “They’ll go away.”

“It could be Meghan and Wally bringing Joshua home,” she reasons, indecision clear on her face.

“Were they supposed to bring him back this early?” I ask, needing her so bad I ache, but not at the expense of our son.

“No. I’m supposed to go get him…”

“Then, we ignore it. I don’t have to report in until one today when I get the report back from the forensics at the latest crime scene. I want every minute I can have with you meanwhile.”

I can see her giving in, her face clearing with a smile, when the person at the door gives up ringing the bell and begins knocking loudly—and clearly impatient.

“Let me get my robe. I’ll see who it is,” she sighs. “It used to be Sundays were a day you could relax and not be bothered in Stone Lake,” she mutters under her breath, sliding off the bed.

“You aren’t going to the door like that,” I mutter when I see her wrap a small robe around her naked—and aroused—body.

“What are you talking about?”

“That barely covers you and you don’t have any clothes on underneath,” I tell her, already getting out of bed and finding my pants. I got up to make sure the doors and windows were locked last night after Luna went to sleep. I picked my pants up and laid them at the foot of the bed, now I’m glad I did.

“Gavin—”

“No way. I’ll get rid of whoever it is, and then I’ll come back in here and take care of you,” I tell her giving her a quick kiss and letting my thumb brush against the silk of her robe. Teasing the hard nipple that is poking against the material.

“I don’t remember you being this bossy before, I’m not sure I like it.” she murmurs.

“I’ll make you like it,” I promise and then I leave her alone to go answer the door. “Stay in here, if I can’t handle it you can get dressed and come out,” I tell her, hoping I can get rid of whoever it is.

I’m actually humming as I make it to the door. For the first time in forever, I feel happy. I didn’t bother with a shirt, but I’m buttoning my jeans as I open the door, anxious to get rid of whoever is on the other side. When they don’t talk, I look up once I get my zipper done and that feeling of happiness disappears when I see Kingston’s face staring back at me.

Luna

“Lodge. I figured this is where I would find you.”

“Kingston, Luna is—”

“Oddly enough, I’m not here for Luna. I’m here for you,” Ben says, and though I’m listening to them through the door, something about Ben’s voice makes me nervous. I grab Gavin’s t-shirt, loving how much it smells like him, put it on quickly and grab my panties. Once I do that, I put the robe back on and head out. If Gavin gets mad, he’ll just have to get mad. The robe comes down to just above my knee and truly does hide everything important. He’s just being silly.

“Ben, is something wrong with Joshua?” I call out, announcing my presence that way, but really more concerned with why Ben would be here. His voice just sounded off and he’s left me alone all this time to try and figure out where my head was out. It doesn’t make sense he’d show up this early at my door on a Sunday.

“Luna,” Ben says and as he looks me over, I can’t help but blush. This isn’t exactly how I wanted him to find out about Gavin and me. “Joshua is fine. This isn’t about him,” Ben says, his voice carrying a hard edge.

“I… uh… you should come in. I’ll make some coffee and we can talk,” I tell him lamely.

Gavin comes over and wraps his arm around my back, pulling me into his body. I look up at him, surprised. He bends down and kisses my forehead. It’s not a show, or a stake of ownership to get back at Ben. I can tell that instantly. He’s worried about me.
