“I’m learning, but I had the best teacher in the world on how to be a good parent in my beautiful wife,” I tell her honestly.
“That’s good. Did you take notes?”
“Notes?” I ask confused as she beams up at me.
“Though, I guess I could give you a refresher course. We have about six months.”
“Six months?” I murmur, almost afraid to hope. “Luna?”
“I’m pregnant, Gavin.”
“You’re pregnant?” I try to take a breath, but its frozen in my chest. We had only recently began trying. I wanted to wait until we were sure that Joshua was secure in my love for him and the relationship we had begun to build. I still wasn’t sure, but after tonight I definitely am and now… “You’re pregnant?” I ask again, even though Luna is nodding her head up and down, smiling so huge that she’s shining brighter than the sun.
“We’re going to have a baby, Gavin.”
“We’re going… We’re having a baby!” I call out, shouting it out to the world.
I pick Luna up in my arms and spin her around and then I kiss her with everything I have.
I fell in love with Luna Marshall when I was seventeen years old. She was a force of nature I wasn’t ready for because I was a stupid kid who failed to appreciate that he held the world in his hands.
All I can say now, is thank God for second chances.
“I love you, Moonbeam,” I tell her when we break away.
“I love you, too Gavin,” she says, and I feel those words all the way down to my bones.
I truly have everything…
