I maneuver him so he’s flat on his back, and then I rise and straddle him, teasing his dick with the wet folds of my pussy.

“Damn, Callie,” he grits out. “Just fuck me. Damn.”

I slide down onto him. God, sweet completion. Though my instinct is to ride him hard, ride him fast, I stay still for a silent moment, letting him fill me, reveling in the fullness.

The sweet and perfect fullness.

Then he grips my hips and lifts me until his cock head peeks out against my folds and thrusts me back down.

“God,” he groans. “Fuck.”

I do ride him then. Fast and furious, as if my life depends on it. He grabs my boobs, squeezes them, plays with my nipples.

“You’re so beautiful.” He reaches behind me and yanks the band out of my low ponytail.

My hair falls like a soft curtain over my back, like a warm waterfall cascading through me and around me.

I ride and ride, taking him inside me so deeply I swear he’s touching my heart.

And he is.

Emotionally he is, and—

I’m on my back now. He flips me so quickly my perception is skewed.

He looks down at me, plunging inside me, and meets my gaze. His hazel eyes are burning.

“Fuck, I love you,” he says. “I love you, Callie.”

“I love you too, Donny.”

And oh, I do. He takes charge, fucking me hard. Fucking me fast. Sweat emerging on his brow, sliding down his forehead.

He thrusts, thrusts, thrusts, and—

The friction on my clit catapults me into a climax. A long and perfect climax.

“That’s it, baby. Come all around me. Come for me. Only me.”

He thrusts again. Again. Once more.

“Fuck!” He clenches his jaw. “God, so good.”

He stays embedded in me then as we climax together.

Together.

“I love you,” I say on a sigh.

“I love you too. Always.”

I’m not sure how long we stay joined. I think we sleep. Maybe. Perhaps it’s just a haze of love and lust.

Finally, I hear Donny’s voice in the edge of my consciousness.

“We should probably eat if we’re going to have the energy to do this again.”

A chuckle leaves my throat. “I suppose so. Don’t want to get up, though.” I snuggle closer into his shoulder.

“I hear you. I could stay like this for maybe…forever.”

I smile against his warm skin. “Me too.”

More moments pass, until I finally move. “Nature calls.” I head to the bathroom. When I’m done, I grab one of the robes on the hook on the door and wrap it around myself.

“You look comfy,” Donny says when I return to the bed. “Though I prefer you naked.”

I grab the bag from the table and pull out the foil containers. “I suppose it’s too much to expect the Snow Creek Inn to provide plates and flatware, huh?”

He laughs. “Definitely too much.”

I hand him a container and a plastic fork. “This is it, then. Cheers.”

He laughs again. “I’ve never heard anyone say cheers for food. Only drinks.”

“I’ve kind of always marched to the beat of my own drummer.”

“One of the many reasons why I love you, Caroline.”

“You should know, then, that I detest the name Caroline.”

He laughs once more. “It’s a gorgeous name for a gorgeous woman, but I hear you. I detest the name Donovan. That’s why I’m a thirty-two-year-old man who still goes by Donny.”

I return his laughter. “I guess we have a lot in common.”

“Baby, I know we do.” Donny pulls the top off his container. “Ah, congealed mozzarella. Can’t beat it.”

“We should have eaten first,” I say.

“Nah. Sex always takes priority. But I’m going to need some carbs now, so cold ziti will have to do.”

We eat in silence, both knowing what’s coming next. More sex.

And then…

The talk. What we came here for.

Maybe it will get my mind off seeing Pat Lamone working the reception desk.

That brought back memories.

Memories I thought were buried.

Between what Donny asked me to do and the return of Patrick Lamone…

Even the love of Donny Steel doesn’t take away my fear.

Or my anger.

Chapter Forty-Seven

Donny

I never expected to come home to Snow Creek and fall in love.

Not that I intended to make Callie Pike a one-nighter. I wouldn’t do that to a friend and neighbor. She deserves better.

I figured we’d have some fun, stay friends. All that.

If I had any doubts earlier, hearing her say the words flushed them away. My thoughts weren’t just thoughts. They are reality.

I love this woman.

I love Callie Pike.

Caroline Pike and Donovan Steel. What a fucking mouthful.

We’ll always be Callie and Donny until we’re old and gray.

Old and gray. Damn, I really am in love.

I polish off my ziti and drink another glass of water. Callie leaves a little in her container.

“Want the rest?” She holds it out to me.

“I’m stuffed. Maybe later.”

“So…” she teases. “More sex?”

“Always.”

She parts her robe but then stops. “Or maybe…”

“Yeah?”

“We should talk.” She gasps. “Not about the future or anything. I didn’t mean—”
