“Were you not listening to our conversation?” Grinch asks. “We were wondering just how open to one of our parties she’d be.”

I glance over at Slick. She doesn’t look the type, and Rivet, our other female team member, was never involved in our parties. She and Cannon, our vice president Shadow’s son, got together soon after her arrival.

“The quiet ones are always animals in bed,” Spade whispers.

“Keep your dick in your pants,” Grinch urges, smacking Spade in the chest with the back of his palm when the guy stares at the woman across the room. “The last thing we need is drama in the clubhouse. Get your rocks off somewhere else.”

Spade nods in understanding, but his eyes linger just a while longer before he turns his gaze back to us.

“We’ll go out tomorrow,” Grinch assures him. “The women will swarm you. You’ll have your pick of them, but don’t get any damn ideas about anyone here. It would be nothing but trouble.”

Spade nods before looking down at his empty whiskey glass. He makes an excuse to get more before walking away.

“That one is going to be trouble,” I mutter.

“Nah,” Grinch counters. “He just needs to get laid.”

“Don’t we all,” I grumble as I drain my beer and decide to switch to something a little stronger.

Maybe tequila or bourbon will get Faith out of my damn head.

Chapter 2

Faith

“Just a Coke,” I tell the bartender as he leans in closer to hear me over the Saturday night crowd.

Drake winks at me, making it clear he got my order.

“What?” I snap, no anger in my voice when I turn my attention back to my best friend Sylvie.

“Just a Coke?” She shakes her head as if she’s disappointed in me.

“I’m driving,” I remind her.

“And we’ve been over this. The cabs in town run until two in the morning. If you drink too much, there’s always a safe way to get home.” Her eyes roam the crowded bar for a brief moment before she looks back at me. “If you had a little fun, you wouldn’t have to worry about a ride home.”

I frown, knowing exactly what she’s referencing. “I’m not taking a man home tonight.”

“Then you could go to his place,” she counters.

“Even less appealing,” I say, turning back to Drake to accept my drink.

“Let me know if you need anything else, beautiful.”

“Or…” I hear the smile in Sylvie’s voice.

“Don’t start,” I mutter, sipping soda through the straw.

“You could take the sexy-as-hell bartender home.”

I shake my head. She tells me this every single time we end up at Jake’s. Drake is a total flirt, but he spreads the love. The man is working mostly for tips, so I don’t blame him. I’ll never admit out loud that I like the winks and attention. What woman in her thirties wouldn’t like to be flirted with by a muscle-bound man with bright blue eyes? I’m not immune to his charms, but unlike Sylvie’s train of thought, I know I’d never take him home.

Ignoring my friend, I watch Drake pull the same wink/smirk combo on two men further down the bar. He’s an equal opportunist like that.

“Do you think he’s gay?”

I jolt at the feel of Sylvie’s breath on my neck.

“Does it matter if he is?”

“Not in the slightest,” my friend says as she pulls away to a respectable distance, her eyes shining brightly as she sips her gin and tonic. “Maybe he’s bi.”

Her eyebrows waggle up and down.

“And that appeals to you?” I’ve always been curious about my friend’s sexual freedom.

I’m not a prude. I’m not a virgin either, but picking up men in bars or any other random location just isn’t my thing.

“You’re telling me that the thought of two men at the same time doesn’t give you butterflies in your belly?”

“Even if he’s bi, that doesn’t mean he’d be interested in a threesome, Sylvie. Not everyone is a sexual deviant,” I tell her lightheartedly because as long as she’s safe, I don’t care what she gets down to in the bedroom. That doesn’t mean she isn’t going to share the information, but I don’t seek it out either.

“Threesomes aren’t sexually deviant, Faith.”

“Adventurous,” I correct.

“And if he’s bi, maybe he wants the best of both worlds?” Her eyes dart back to the bartender, his back to us, muscles rippling under his tight t-shirt as he mixes a drink.

“Maybe he’d rather have two women at the same time,” I counter. “What about that?”

She winks at me, and I know my attempt to shut down this conversation has failed.

“From what I hear, threesomes happen all the time at the clubhouse.”

I groan, mildly annoyed that I’ve only been here fifteen minutes, and this topic is already coming up.

“I don’t care what happens at the Cerberus clubhouse,” I mutter, regretting that I didn’t ask for a double splash of whiskey in my Coke.
