I huff, climbing off the bed. “Ridiculous. This is ridiculous. Can’t you leave me uncuffed today? I won’t leave.”
“I left you uncuffed last night,” he states.
“Yes, and look how much fun that was,” I point out. “Let me roam free. I promise I’ll be here when you get home later.”
“Not gonna happen,” he informs me. “If you think sucking my dick is how you get me to put my guard down, you’re sadly mistaken.”
“That is not why I did that.”
“I don’t have time to argue with you, Laurel. You’re wasting time. Keep stalling and you’re gonna miss your window.”
Since I don’t know how long he’ll be gone, I stop arguing and go to the bathroom. I can’t believe he doesn’t trust me to stay put. I guess I should be able to believe it, but as much as I do need to return to my real life soon, I wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye. I like Sin. I like him a lot. If not for him being a criminal on the other side of the country, I could see myself ignoring all the reasons it’s a bad idea and attempting an actual relationship with him. I enjoy his company, even when he’s being a jerk, and I very much like the peek I’ve gotten of him as a lover. It doesn’t hurt that he’s drop-dead gorgeous and has an air of danger that is completely legit—just not for me. I don’t know why I’m so sure, but I know Sin would never hurt me.
Mmmm.
So lethal in the world at large, yet with me he uses padded cuffs.
I’m starting to forget why I’m annoyed with him, but then I walk back into the bedroom. Sin is fully dressed and waiting with my wrist cuffs and a bottle of water. I sigh, shooting him a sullen look as I climb back on the bed.
“This is lame,” I tell him.
“Not as lame as leaving you loose, then coming home to find you gone.”
“I wouldn’t be gone. I want to make you dinner tonight. If you leave me uncuffed, I’ll have more freedom to get it started.”
A dark eyebrow climbs his forehead and he flicks a glance at me as he fastens my first cuff. “Dinner?”
I nod. “We’ve been ordering out. I want to cook for you. If you stop for chicken, asiago cheese—actually, it might be easier if I made you a list.”
This seems to amuse him. “You’re going to send me grocery shopping?”
“I just finished sucking your cock and now I want to cook for you; try not to feel too emasculated.”
Sin shakes his head, turning my other wrist and putting the cuff on. “I’m not emasculated by grocery shopping. I just forgot I married you?
?when was the wedding?”
“Hey, we’re in Vegas, it could have been anytime,” I point out.
Sin finishes securing and checking my cuffs, then he hands over his phone with the notepad open. “Give me your damn shopping list.”

I am about to leave for my meeting with Lorenzo when Sin shows up. Juanita answers the door before I get there, and she immediately fusses over him. I’m not sure why until I see his hands are busted up. The envelope he collected for me has red smears all over it, so it clearly didn’t come easy.
“All good?” I ask.
“All good,” he verifies, crossing the foyer and holding it out for me.
“I’m not touching that,” I inform him, flicking a glance at it. “Let Juanita clean you up, then take it to my study. Put it in the drawer safe—not that filthy fucking envelope, just the cash.”
His arm drops to his side, and he stares at me. “The safe? I thought you needed it before you met Lorenzo about the fight.”
I withdraw a thick, clean envelope from the breast pocket of my suit jacket and hold it up for him to see. “I’m giving this to Lorenzo. I just needed that to be collected.”
Sin frowns, staring at the envelope like he’s sure there’s been some mistake. “You said it was urgent. You said it had to be done now.”
