I know that I took this job to support myself while I’m studying, but it’s making my life ten times harder. I can’t study properly because I barely have the time between work and lectures, and even when I do, I’m exhausted. My social life is non-existent. And of course, I haven’t had any opportunity to date at all. Not that any of the immature college guys I’ve met appeal to me at all.

Finishing up with the bed, I sit on the edge for a moment to catch my breath. I can’t carry on like this. I should really quit this job, but something keeps me here. It’s like a magnetic force. Every time I think about leaving, something convinces me that I’m meant to be here. I’ve always been a big believer in fate and chance, so if this job has some meaning to it, then I can’t let it slip away so easily.

I feel my eyelids hanging heavy. Maybe this place is where I’ll meet the man of my dreams. Ever since I turned eighteen, I’ve had a yearning to find the one to settle down with. I’ve never been interested in dating around. Once I find the one, I’ll know. But so far, I’ve not had much luck in New York City. Every man seems perfectly fine, but not what I’m looking for. I want a strong man who will protect me through everything we face. I want a man who makes me feel safe even in a city this big and scary. I want a man who knows me so well that he can communicate with me without even speaking.

Maybe I’m asking for too much. I know I’m lucky, really. I have a job, a place at college, a roof over my head. Given that I started out in this city with very little, I should really be more grateful. But even though my friends have told me so many times that a man won’t complete me, I know the right one will. The man of my dreams is waiting out there somewhere to fill the hole in my heart. I just have to figure out where to find him.

I should really get back to work. I have a lot to do before my shift finishes in a few hours’ time. But the bed is so inviting that I find myself lying down on it. I just want to rest my eyes and my head for a minute…

My eyes snap back open as I hear the door to the room open. It’s dark outside now. How did I fall asleep? I sit up in shock, ready to explain myself, but I freeze when I see the hulking presence of a man in the doorway. A man I’ve never met before, but I feel like I’ve known him my whole life.

Chase

The beautiful woman lying on the bed takes me completely by surprise. I wasn’t expecting to find a woman so stunning lying on the bed when I came in here tonight, but I can’t say that I’m opposed to it. She looks ruffled, her hair out of place and her eyes bleary, but my eyes drift to her short black maid’s uniform and the way it’s tugged slightly up her thick thighs. My cock stands to attention at the sight of her. Suddenly, I’ve forgotten where I am and why. All I can see is her. All I can feel is my animalistic desire to have her right here and now. All I can hear is my blood thudding in my ears, making me feel truly alive for the first time.

She’s perfect.

“Mr. Thompson? Is there something wrong with the room?” the manager Matt, asks me when he notices I haven’t stepped into the room. He looks over my shoulder and gasps when he sees the beautiful maid laid out on the bedsheets. “Faith! What the hell are you doing? Your shift finished an hour ago! Have you been sleeping in here?”

“I’m so sorry, Matt. I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” Faith squeaks, getting up from the bed and trying to smooth down her ruffled uniform.

“Sorry isn’t good enough! This is unacceptable. I’m sorry, but you’re fired!”

“You will not fire her,” I growl, turning on Matt with adrenaline rushing through my veins. He blinks in surprise.

“Excuse me, sir?”

“You won’t fire this woman. She’s clearly exhausted. You’ve been working her too hard,” I snap and Matt takes a step back.

“Sir...this incident can’t happen! What if one of our guests had found her like this? She’s abandoned her work for this!”

“I don’t care,” I growl. “I won’t allow you to do this. And have you forgotten who owns this hotel? It’s certainly not you. You might be the manager, Matt, but I own this place. So if you want to keep your job here, I suggest you let this go. I’ll take care of this. You can leave.”
