“What’s up with him?” I asked.

“I don’t know. You reckon he blew in those pants?”

“Fuck, he couldn’t have. I don’t know how you could possibly get hard in those,” I wondered out loud.

“I don’t know but he looks uncomfortable. Wait, he’s coming our way.”

“Dude, why the face? You jizz in your pants?”

“No...” he answered defensively. He turned around, unsure of what I was looking for but it stared me right in the face: a giant split in the seam of his pants right down the middle of his ass.

“DUDE!” Elijah and I roared in unison.

“Fuck you, guys... It was fine till Destiny told me to crouch down so I could smell her pussy,” he whimpered.

“Well why the fuck did you crouch down to do that?” Elijah asked.

“Because I wanted to smell it!”

“Dude, I don’t think that pussy smells any good. More like a sea bass that has been sitting out for days.”

“Oh shit, man. Sea bass is one of my mother’s famous recipes,” I complained.

“I know,” chuckled Elijah.

“I need more drinks,” Rocky whined.

The rounds kept coming and the three of us were way too intoxicated to understand each other’s conversation. Someone could’ve tried to sell me Brooklyn Bridge and I would’ve bought it. I watched the strippers gyrate throughout the night; by then my vision had blurred and I knew it was coming to an end before I passed out. The music changed once again, this time playing Usher’s Make Love in the Club. It was soothing compared to the rest of the shit they played. A young girl walked slowly onto the stage. She looked different...she was a brunette. My eyes fixed on her. She wore a pale pink bra with a matching thong. She had long brown hair that sat above her waist. She looked new, maybe a rookie. She took to the pole closing her eyes ignoring the men in the front who yelled vulgar words at her. As she opened her eyes they met mine. Big chocolate brown eyes fixated on me. I felt a slight stir in my pants. It was time to leave.

Chapter 3

Charlie

Delete-delete-delete. The emails were coming thick and fast but I chose to ignore them…him. What was he going to tell me? It was all manipulated by the media and he was the victim? Bullshit. I was stronger than this, I didn’t need him. If I could handle seven years without him then I could get through this. At least that’s what I kept telling myself.

Eric came to my rescue in the parking lot. He saw me at my most vulnerable moment. He wanted to take me up to my apartment but I refused. Instead he grabbed some of my things and took me to his place. I sobbed the entire way, and he looked at me, helpless. He was unable to ask the questions that lingered and I was unable to give him answers. But I picked myself up the only way I knew how: putting my head in the sand, ignoring the situation and pretending it didn’t exist.

After my big blow-up with Bulls, I avoided the office for a few days by working from home. I soon realized Lex would eventually track me down so I needed somewhere else to stay, somewhere he couldn’t find me. I reached into my purse and retrieved the number. She answered immediately and thankfully she was willing to help me out for a few nights. I met her in the hotel lobby. She rushed to my side and hugged me. It was just what I needed, a friend who wasn’t involved in this mess. Taking me up to her suite I couldn’t help but notice how nice it was; surely she must’ve been giving her boss serious head for this.

“Wow, this is amazing! I can’t thank you enough. The shit’s hit the fan and I really needed a place to stay and a friend who wasn’t involved in the nightmare that was my sorry excuse for a life. I’m sorry, I didn’t know who else to ask.”

“Hey, don’t worry. There’s shit on my fan too. Arsehole was banging that beastly bird in that pic. I said goodbye to that tosser.”

“Oh my God, Kate. I’m so sorry.”

“Better now than later, right? Don’t worry, I met this gorgeous Navy guy last weekend and can I just discuss how yummy that rebound was? I’m so done and dusted with that Aussie jerk and found better and bigger fish in the sea…one with better gills if you know what I mean.” She winked.

Of course I knew what she meant. His cock was bigger and better, always a plus.

“Arghh excuse me for just one second, the boss calls.” She answered the call with an annoyed look on her face. “Good afternoon, sir.” She remained on the line while I walked towards the window admiring the view of the park. It was early morning in the city that never sleeps which was busy as usual, even with a storm that was due to come in over the next forty-eight hours. I watched as people scurried along, zig-zagging in and out of the crowds, obviously late for work. The tourists were walking around in awe, snapping photos of everything in sight. I watched the few homeless people who roamed the streets, lost in their own little world. How in that moment I envied their strength, to carry on every day despite their shitty circumstances.

“Yes, she got the contracts. No, I don’t know her assistant refused to give me that information. Okay…okay, thank you, Sir.” She hung up the phone.

“Sir?” I asked teasing. “Sounds kinda kinky.”

“Oh trust me, it’s not. Charlie, you look like a truck ran over you so tell me what’s been happening. I assume your love life has gone tits up?”

“I don’t really want to talk about it. Everyone is pushing me and I just need to not think about it for a while if that’s okay.”
