“You nervous?” Adriana asked as she fixed my train.

Was I? No. I was reeling from the fact that in less than twenty minutes I would see Lex again “Not a single bit.” I beamed.

Adriana announced she was finally done. Standing back, she watched me. Barely above a whisper, all I heard was “there are no words” as I watched her wipe a falling tear from her face. “Mascara, Adriana,” I gently scolded. She laughed, dabbing her eyes with a tissue.

“It’s showtime,” she sang.

The girls planned a simple wedding, according to Jen. No bridesmaids or groomsmen and a simple, short ceremony. The only thing I had to do (which I couldn’t have wanted any more at this moment) was to walk down the aisle with my dad.

My dad held out his arm as he whispered, “Charlie, you sure about this?”

Without taking a single breath I responded, “Never been so sure of anything in my entire life, Dad.”

He patted my arm, a slight build-up of tears in his eyes. I was so ready. The violins started, it was my cue and here on the cliff top that was our place, a new memory was about to begin. As I turned the corner I saw him, my dark angel, waiting patiently for me. His emerald green eyes shone so bright, brighter than any light I had seen, and so without any hesitation, both my heart and feet started to walk towards him, finding their way into the light.

Chapter 21

Lex

In life, we strive for perfection. Whether it is emotional, physical or material - time and time again we are reminded that perfection is only momentary. Our natural instinct is to crave something greater, explore our want, our thirst, or our desire to find something superior. As humans, our brains are programmed to think this way, but tonight at the stroke of midnight my brain was reprogrammed because perfection was walking down the aisle toward me, like an angel of purity in all its beauty. Her smile radiated; a few more feet and she would finally be beside me.

Mark kissed her cheek before handing her to me and then, as I expected, as I craved, the jolt. Electrifying every single part of me, a constant reminder that only she had the power to make me feel this. I knew without a single doubt that she felt it, too, and I knew I shouldn’t have done it but I leaned in and kissed her lips, caught up in the moment. “Charlotte, you are beautiful,” I whispered softly against her lips. The celebrant interrupted us and there under the pale moonlight, three minutes past midnight, I said the words.

“Charlotte Olivia Mason. I promise to cherish you and love you, unconditionally for the rest of our lives. I vow that every breath I take, every beat of my heart, belongs to you and only you.” I slid the ring on her finger, once again kissing it before she spoke.

“Alexander Matthew Edwards, I take you to be my constant friend and my loving partner. I promise to be faithful and devote myself to you, only you and our marriage. I give you my hand, my heart, the air that I breathe. For as long as we both shall live.” She slid the ring on my finger, again.

I didn’t wait for the words, I kissed her. Five hours apart had felt like a lifetime and now in front of our family and friends, we were officially Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. There was a loud roar, whistling and clapping amongst our nearest and dearest. A soft violin piece played in the background and without warning a burst of thunder rolled in on the horizon, but Charlotte didn’t flinch one bit. She used to be terrified of that sound, never giving me an explanation as to why.

“How come the thunder didn’t scare you?”

“Because I have you to protect me.” She smiled and placed her arms around me as we continued to lose ourselves in each other, our lips unable to unlock until Rocky said we needed to stop because it was bordering on pornographic. We pulled away as the music started and right there on our spot we danced to what was once our song.

“I love this song.” Charlotte rested her head on my shoulder.

“I know...I wasn’t sure if…” She interrupted me by placing her finger against my lips.

“I don’t care what happened after. No one can ever erase that moment in time when we sat side by side playing the piano and singing. Whatever the hell happened after, I don’t care. That moment stuck with me, that song stuck with me and, Lex, it is our song. It’s not tainted and thank you, for choosing it today for us to dance to.” She was eerily calm, a perfect calm, and I felt my body relax, allowing myself to enjoy this dance with my wife.

The girls had planned a simple ceremony followed by an even simpler reception here on

the cliff top. Our loved ones surrounded us as they took to each other and danced beside us. It would be followed by cutting the cake, my speech, then straight to our honeymoon where I got to enjoy Charlotte for a month. A month of fucking my beautiful wife all day, all night. Now that was heaven.

During our dance people congratulated us, but I managed to hold onto Charlotte tight because my fucking boner was standing out like an eyesore. Eric, the fucking idiot, was obviously amused by it all. I had the right mind to kidnap him and have women rub their pussies all up in his face just to teach him a lesson. The throbbing pain was unbearable and I needed a release, but how awful it would be if I was caught jerking off at my own wedding? For some reason the others didn’t have a problem. In fact, I couldn’t spot the others apart from Rocky, who looked pretty smug. I suspected he’d had his release already. Smug motherfucker.

I motioned for Charlotte to come with me and she did without asking a thousand questions. I took her down the path, but along the way I heard rustling in the bushes followed by a giggle. I stopped and placed my fingers against my mouth, motioning for Charlotte to be quiet so we could hear who it was.

“Andrew…right there…”

OH FUCK NO!

I grabbed Charlotte’s arms with force as she giggled, knowing all too well that the idea of my parents having sex was the biggest nightmare of all time, but somehow the general was so pumped with Viagra that his saluting was relentless. As I lead her down the path I found the isolated cave and pulled her inside.

Against the rock wall, I smashed my lips against hers. “Lex, we have everyone waiting…”

“Don’t worry about them, Rocky has it covered. I need to fuck you now, as my wife. I promise to make sweet love to you when we get back to our hotel room but right now I need to fuck you.” There was no objection, I lifted her dress and plunged into her, the sound of her small cry echoing in the cave.
