Soon, this foursome will become five. In three months, I’ll welcome my baby into the world and we’ll have a whole new set of joys to explore. I’ll finally get to know how it feels to be a mother. I’ll finally understand what it means to have a complete family, one that makes me happier than anything else in the world. I’m not sure what the future holds exactly, but knowing it’ll hold the people in this room is enough to make me happy. I’ve got everything I need right here.
As we settle down to eat dinner, I keep quiet, just listening to everyone talking and laughing with one another. It feels nice just to be a part of it, to sit back and appreciate the life I have. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world. Some might not be satisfied simply by having a family, but this is all I’ve ever wanted. I don’t need a fancy house or a career or a crazy, adventurous life to be content. The real adventure for me is right here among the people that I love.
And I can’t wait to continue this adventure with them.
