“So, what you’re saying is, Mom has Jace, he’s coming over with her to spoil our girl, and she’s going to give us a hand?” I ask back.

“Now she gets it. You give me a kiss, I’ll put miss priss in her bassinet, tackle the dishes, and you can take a long hot bath until our little girl wakes up crying and needs you.”

“You’re the best, Tanner. And by the way, I pumped earlier today, so if she does need to be fed, you and your mom will have to fight over who gets to feed her.” I reach up, my lips grazing his, softly and gently, knowing I still have a couple more weeks before we can take things further.

“Fuck, can’t wait till we can take this further. It’s been too damn long.” See what I mean? Tanner looks through the fact that there is absolutely nothing sexy about me in this moment. He loves me for me.

“Ugh, I know.” My head lands on the back of the couch. I shouldn’t be turned on while essentially being the human milking machine between breastfeeding and pumping, yet I am.

“It won’t be too much longer. Now, tell your man you love him and go get a bath.” I roll my eyes at him. I shouldn’t tell him, making him wait to hear those words until he says them first this time, but I won’t, not this time.

“I love you, Tanner. You’re my forever.”

“Love you, Marlie Hart, always.” He gives me a kiss that I can feel deep in my soul, and even if he hadn’t said those words, I could feel the love he gives me in every way imaginable.
