It didn’t take long before he felt her begin to ripple around him, her body clasping him in tight, wet heat as she came, her scream triggering something inside him, allowing him to let go. His climax took hold, his body stilling as his release exploded, pleasure taking over every part of him, mind, body, and soul.

He collapsed on top of her, his body pressing hers into the mattress long enough for him to catch his breath. He rolled over, then pulled her completely onto the bed. He headed to the bathroom, returning to find her curled under the covers, waiting for him.

He climbed in beside her and she snuggled back into him, where they fell asleep, napping before they awoke for dinner. The hotel boasted a five-star steak house. They enjoyed dinner, and red wine and headed back up to bed, where Parker lit a fire and they cuddled and talked for a while, then made out like teenagers in front of the fire before taking things back to the big bed, where it got even hotter between them.

* * *

Parker had breakfast in bed with Emily, an intimacy he’d never shared with a woman before. It was a unique experience, one he wouldn’t mind repeating. But Emily rushed them out of bed because they had an appointment to tour the resort with her friend, the assistant manager. And since she was doing him a favor, trying to find him a place to hold the corporate retreat, something that would make Ethan happy, Parker pushed himself up and headed for the shower.

A little while later, they were walking through the dark-tiled lobby, furnished with wood accents, by the front desk with the gift and sundry shop to one side.

Emily stopped at the desk. She leaned over, her ass cupped lovingly in a pair of jeans and a white sweater, knee-high tan boots on her long legs. “Hi. I’m Emily Stevens. I’m looking for Colby Mattson. We have an appointment.”

An older woman picked up the phone, and a few minutes later, a guy about Parker’s age walked around the front desk and headed straight for Emily.

“Em! Come here and give me some sugar! How’s my favorite baker?” the man asked. He had dirty-blond hair, wore dark jeans and a cream cashmere sweater, and had a light scruff of beard. Parker grudgingly admitted he was a nice-looking guy who obviously had a thing for Parker’s girl.

“Colby!” Emily squealed in delight.

The man pulled her into a very familiar hug that had Parker gritting his teeth before Colby finally put Emily down. “How’s my favorite girl?”

She giggled like an embarrassed schoolgirl and Parker’s hand curled into a fist. He wasn’t used to this jealous feeling and he didn’t like it worth a damn.

“I’m good!”

“Well, I’m glad you’re back home where you belong. Care to tell me about your time in Chicago?”

“Umm–” Her eyes opened wide and she obviously didn’t want to share information or go back to that time with Rex.

Not only had Parker had enough of being ignored, nobody was going to push Emily into revealing her past. Not even a so-called old friend.

He stepped forward and pulled her back to him, sliding an arm around her. “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” he asked.

“Oh! I can’t believe I forgot,” Emily said, a cute blush staining her cheeks.

Colby startled, as if just realizing Parker was there, he’d been so consumed with seeing Emily. Parker figured he could cut the guy some slack. Emily could get a guy to forget his own name. But Colby had planned to give a tour of the lodge and it was time the man remembered and was shown where things stood between the three of them.

“Emily was telling me you and she go way back? You’re old friends?” Parker pushed, emphasizing the word.

Colby’s stare landed on the possessive way Parker’s arm wrapped around Emily’s waist and his gaze narrowed, coming to rest on Parker’s. Clearly he got the message.

“Yes. We went to elementary then middle and high school together. We’ve kept in touch ever since.”

Plenty of time to have made his move, Parker thought to himself. “I’m Parker Knight.” He extended his hand and the other man accepted it, his grip a touch too hard and he held on too long.

“Colby Mattson.”

He might want a pissing contest but Parker was already the winner here.

“Colby, I told Parker you were going to give us a tour of the resort,” Emily, who no doubt was aware of the jealous male undercurrents, said, bringing the subject to why they were here.

Colby nodded. “This place is my pride and joy. We’ve renovated recently and it has every amenity imaginable while still offering a homey feel. Emily tells me you’re looking for a place to hold a corporate retreat?”

“Yes. We’d like to bring a mix of high- and mid-level employees to partake in activities that involve strategizing, enhancing relationships, building morale, as well as giving them time to enjoy themselves.”
