“So you don’t know much about him? Not even where he just left for business?” Nash asked.
“No. Every time I asked him questions, he would tell me that he inherited his money and that he did odd jobs now, just to keep busy. I asked him what kind of odd jobs and he would say importing and exporting.”
Nash and Riker looked at one another.
“Any distinguishing tattoos on his body?” Riker asked.
“What?” she replied, caught off guard at the question.
“Sorry. So why did you break things off with him?” Nash asked.
“Well, he was getting controlling. He sometimes drank a lot and would be aggressive. But ultimately…” She took a sip of wine, swallowed hard, feeling embarrassed, or as if she weren’t good enough. Then Riker caressed her thigh, under the table.
She looked at him and then Nash.
“Ultimately?” Nash asked.
“I caught him in bed with another woman.”
“Asshole,” Riker stated.
“Numb nuts,” Nash added, and she laughed, but felt the sting of tears in her eyes.
“Hey, don’t shed a tear for that guy.” Nash reached over and caressed his knuckles against her cheek.
“I’m not. It’s just that my entire life I’ve been surrounded by bad situations. No matter how hard I work at getting away from those situations or achieving things, I wind up feeling inadequate or like a failure.”
“A failure? How could that be? You’re amazing at what you do. That’s a success, proven by those you have assisted in business,” Riker stated.
“Do you mean a failure in regards to connecting to the right people? To opening up your heart to someone trustworthy?” Nash asked. She nodded her head. He got it. He understood.
Nash curled his finger at her, as he leaned closer across the table. She slowly met him, and when their lips touched, she closed her eyes and felt her heart soar. It was a short, sweet kiss, filled with promise. As he leaned back, Riker cleared his throat. She looked at him and smiled.
“Give me some of that,” he whispered and then reached for her. He cupped her head as she leaned closer and they kissed. He gave her hair a little tug, and her pussy reacted immediately. Both of these men were very dominant in nature and obviously resourceful. As she leaned back after Riker’s kiss, she couldn’t help but admire them. Plus, they used to be federal agents. That was pretty damn sexy.
“Your food has arrived.” They looked up toward the waiter and then leaned back in their chairs as the food was delivered. Lobster tails and a small filet sat on each of their plates. It smelled delicious, and soon they were eating, talking about work, their expectations for tomorrow night, and plans for the weekend to spend together.
She smiled, and wondered if this could really work out between the three of them, or would their pasts and hers get in the way?
Chapter 9
Chastity could tell that Nash and Riker, as well as their staff, were nervous. She called them together for a bit of a pep talk, along with Colt.
Standing in the middle of the dance floor, Chastity smiled as thirty employees stood waiting for encouragement.
She clasped her hands in front of her sequined blue dress and smiled toward Riker and Nash. They looked so incredible in their designer dress pants. Nash wore a burgundy button-down dress shirt, and Riker wore a black one. The lights illuminated the club in a gentle glow, and she had yet to tell them that due to her phone calls and contacts they would instantly meet capacity tonight.
“Well, here were are, ladies and gentleman. Opening night for Hidden Treasures, the new hot spot in town. Everyone’s contact systems are working, so you are never alone. Just a click on the button.”
She tapped Lou’s waist and the device clipped on his hip. It was a cross between a phone and a walkie-talkie. It was just like Flynn and Jett’s.
“This is a new classy establishment. As long as everyone fulfills the requirements of their jobs and aids your fellow employees in need, you’ll be just fine. It has been a pleasure working with all of you and getting to know the two wonderful men behind Hidden Treasures.” She glanced at her watch.
“We have four minutes until we open those doors. There is a waiting crowd, so that means instant orders and immediately catering to the customers. Riker, Nash, any words for your staff?” She looked at them.
“We’re a team, and we’re in this together. Let’s be safe, let’s have fun, and let’s make it worth it all,” Nash stated.
“I’m ready,” Riker added.
