“Right here, baby. We’re both right here,” Jett said as he took position on one side of the bed next to her, and Flynn took position on the other side. They both caressed the hair from her cheeks.
“Where am I?”
“The hospital. You’re safe now. Raymond can’t hurt you anymore,” Flynn whispered, and she seemed to cringe at the mention of Raymond’s name.
She crunched her eyes closed and then opened them. “I thought I died there. I don’t remember it all.”
“You don’t have to. We got to you and brought you back home.”
“Back home?” she whispered and then she started to cry. “Kaitlin and Bryer? Oh, God.”
“No, baby, they’re alive. They’ll be by in a little while as soon as Bryer gets out of school. They’ve been here every day and so have all of our friends,” Jett told her.
“They’re all alive? He didn’t kill them all?”
“No. It’s a long story. We’ll get into it another time. Right now you need to rest and let the fluids flush your system. They gave you some pretty bad stuff to sedate you,” Flynn told her.
“I know he did. That was going to be the last time.”
Jett looked at Flynn as Adelina closed her eyes.
“What do you mean?” Flynn asked her as he leaned over and gently rubbed his thumb along her chin.
“I was going to use the knife on me. I couldn’t take it anymore. I thought you all were dead, and that no one was coming for me. He was going to rape me. I couldn’t take the beatings anymore or the drugs. I wanted to die.”
Both Jett and Flynn gently caressed the tears from her eyes. Jett felt his own eyes well up with emotions. One look at Flynn, as he quickly wiped the falling tear from his eyes nearly did him in.
“Thank God you didn’t. I guess we had really good timing then, huh?” he teased.
She sniffled and then chuckled. “I guess you did. I love you both so much. I don’t know how I’ll
get through this.”
Jett hugged her and she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tight. “You’re not in this alone. We’ll take care of you. We love you, Adelina, and together were complete.”
“Damn straight,” Flynn said as Jett released her and then Flynn hugged her.
She leaned back and wiped her eyes. “Oh, God, how bad do I look?” She tried to run her fingers through her hair.
“You’re the most beautiful woman we’ve ever seen,” Jett told her.
“We love you.”
She smiled as she held both their hands and gave them a squeeze.
Epilogue
It was a beautiful and fun evening. All the family and friends were gathered at The Phantom to celebrate Adelina’s full physical recovery as well as the news that Cash and Zane were going to be fathers. Chiara gave Adelina a hug once Chastity released her.
“So, how is the therapy going?” Chastity asked, as Toni and Tia Rose joined the conversation.
“It’s going well. I’m making progress, even though I wish it were going faster. The therapist said I can’t rush it.”
Tia Rose placed her hand on Adelina’s shoulder.
“You don’t have to. You’ve got plenty of time, and two amazing men who absolutely adore you.”
“They sure do. As a matter of fact, what’s it been, like, five minutes since one of them came over to hug you?” Chastity teased, and they laughed.
