“We’ve got plenty of time for that. Today was a step in the right direction,” Ford said and began to tuck in his shirt.
Laverty and Evan helped her pull on her panties and shorts as Ghost stopped her from fixing her bra and shirt.
“Oh, no, you don’t. You’re staying right here with me for another hour.” He pulled her against his side and cupped her breast as he laid his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes. His brothers chuckled. “I guess we’ll finish unloading the truck and get ready for some baking time with our baby,” Evan said and they exited the room.
Lois lay there just thinking about what they did today and how she finally let go and trusted these four men. She prayed she didn’t make a huge mistake and that she could trust them with her heart and her body.
Chapter 7
“We got ourselves a serious situation with the cops and government agents,” Cornero said to Ganor over the phone.
“What do you mean?”
“I got people all over the place. You need to find those drugs and guns, pronto. If Don and Caden didn’t scrape off those serial numbers, then when the cops get their hands on those guns, they’ll know exactly where you got them from. I can’t believe a multi-million dollar operation is going down because Caden needed to see Lois and fuck her another time,” Cornero stated in anger.
“Isn’t that why you wanted her to deliver the money, and he threatened her family if she didn’t?” Ganor asked.
“Don’t get wise with me. I’ve been feeding you and your soldier buddies for a good year so they didn’t wind up in a fucking shelter. You need to get to Lois and find out if she knows where Caden would have hid the shit. You need to do it fast, too. We almost got busted on the pier two nights ago and two of my best guys were killed. Another link that will bring the cops and the feds down on my ass.”
“What are you going to do in the meantime?”
“Head to Dallas. I have a place to hide out there while this shit blows over and you find the drugs and guns. Plus it will help, too, that I’m closer to where Lois is.”
“You know where she is?”
“Of course I do. I know everything. I’ll send the address and the info. Watch your asses and don’t get caught.”
“What do you want us to do if she doesn’t know anything about the drugs and guns?” Ganor asked him.
“Make sure she isn’t lying. Threaten that kid of hers, and the sister. Be careful. There are a lot of cops and retired soldiers in that town. Good ones, so you’re on your own. If you can’t get out of there without any problems, then take her with you and call me. I’ll let you know where I am and I’ll get the information from her somehow.”

Lois stood by the railing and watched Kenny playing football with Ghost. He was throwing the ball to him and Tye, and Lena was trying to tackle them. They had all planned on sitting by the fire tonight after they had dinner together. She saw Kenny stop playing and then run toward the side of the house. She wasn’t the only one watching him, as Laverty squinted his eyes, as well as Ghost and Evan, and then they smiled.
“Sheriff!” Kenny exclaimed, and he jumped into Ford’s arms as he lifted him up and Kenny hugged him. Ford was dressed in his sheriff’s uniform and had just gotten off work. He wasn’t sure he was going to make it home, because they’d had a few arrests that day and a situation with one of the women in town.
Lois exhaled and felt her heart racing. She was falling in love with them quickly.
The other men greeted Ford and he set down Kenny, who went running toward Ghost and the kids again. This time, Ghost threw the ball to Jace and they all started playing.
She headed back into the house to help get the last bit of the food out to the picnic tables. She saw Valentina with Grace and smiled at her.
“Can you bring these two platters out to Sparrow and Ridge? I think those burgers and ribs should be done by now?”
“Sure thing,” she said as Laverty came inside.
“Hey, you’ve got those platters for the burgers and ribs? I think they’re all set?” he asked and Valentina smiled. Lois handed them to him and he leaned down and gave her a kiss. “Thanks, beautiful,” he stated and winked then turned around and headed out. Lois watched him go and when she turned around Valentina chuckled.
“Let me know when you need that overnight. I’ll be sure to keep Kenny occupied,” she said and winked at Lois.
She felt her cheeks warm and then leaned against the counter and watched Valentina wipe Grace’s mouth.
“You’re doing a great job with the kids, Val. You’re a natural,” she told her and Val smiled and held her gaze.
“I can’t believe she’s going to be two in a matter of weeks.”
“Are you going to have a party?”
