“She’ll be up there again, showing off her pipes in no time,” Elise added.
“I think I have some months of recovery ahead of me. At least that’s what my doctor tells me,” Sally stated and they laughed.
“Steven is amazing, Sally. The way he came in here and gathered all his resources. He was incredible and we’re all certain that he’ll get you back to a hundred percent,” Susanna said.
“I love them both so much. I can’t believe this happened to me.”
“Well, no need to get sad over it. Everything worked out fine,” Alexa said.
“Yeah, it helps to have a cavalry like we have in Delite. All your men included, plus the community members, and shit, we have ourselves a personal army,” Elise added and they all agreed.
“Well, we’d better get going. There’s someone extra special waiting to visit you. We’ll see you in a few days at Mason and Steven’s,” Susanna stated. Sally hoped that she could leave in a few days. Mason and Steven insisted that they would nurse her back to health personally. Now, as the women left, she wondered whom the special visitor could be. Everyone she knew had come to see her.
The door opened and Mason entered. She smiled wide.
“Hey, baby, are you okay to be sitting up like that?” he asked as he hurried to her.
“I feel good, Mason.”
He kissed her softly on the mouth. He stared at her a moment then let his finger glide over her white cast on her arm. She knew he still became angry at seeing her injuries, but she was getting better. She made him focus on that.
“Mason, please don’t worry. It’s over and I’m healing fine. In just a few days I’ll be with you and Steven at your ranch along with the dogs. I miss them. Isn’t that funny?” she asked.
“I know you do.” He smiled and then the door opened a little and Steven stuck his head in.
“Are we all good in here?”
Mason nodded and she wondered what Steven was up to now.
Steven opened the door fully and there was Toby. Sally squealed and covered her mouth with her hand. He looked so beautiful, and immediately he was by her bedside crying and wagging his tail. She couldn’t help the tears that fell. She loved Toby and he had been the one to follow her scent and find her first. He also got to take a bite out of the bad guys.
“Can he come up?” she asked between sobs.
Mason gave the command and Toby jumped up, placing his front paws on the bed. He whined as he sniffed her injuries and took special notice to her cast and the bandages on her head. Then he laid his face on her belly so she could pet him. She cringed from the pain but stopped Mason from moving Toby.
“No, let him stay. I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Steven asked, and she nodded her head as the tears fell.
“Hi, sweet Toby. Thank you for helping to save me. I missed you.” She pet the dog’s head.
Toby licked her then barked and the three of them laughed.
“So when can I go home so I can see the rest of the crew?” she asked, feeling hopeful.
“I’m just waiting for the blood work and some other things and maybe by tomorrow,” Steven told her and smiled.
“Yes!” she stated and rubbed Toby’s head.
“We’ll have rules to follow, missy, and I don’t expect you to be a bad patient,” Steven told her.
“I promise I won’t. I can’t wait to snuggle in bed with the two of you. I’m lonely here at night.”
Steven placed his hands on her shoulder and Mason placed his fingers under her chin. “We miss you lying in between us in bed, too. Just another night or so and then we’ll be together,” Mason told her.
“We’ll take good care of you, as long as you do as we say and don’t overdo it. Your injuries are serious and the recoup time will be long,” Steven reprimanded, but she didn’t care how long it would take. She only cared about being with them and the dogs and starting their lives together. It was funny that when she first met Mason and Steven, she referred to them as double trouble. They invaded her heart long before they even kissed. As she pet Toby and looked up between Mason and Steven, she knew they weren’t double trouble, but instead a double blessing, and together they would ensure her protection and her care and love her as much as she loved them.
