cestors say that he speaks the truth, he does not know you are a form of demi god, because there is more to you then that. The ancestors wouldn’t tell me what else resides in you, but they say your father was not a human, that he came from Hades or the underworld if you’d prefer.”
“So, what does that mean, I don’t understand.” I couldn’t help but pace the floor, but it was when I almost punched the wall that Mihaela spoke again.
“Please keep calm Nipotina, there is much that has been left unclear for me, but they did speak of a prophecy that was predicted by the Fates themselves. Our very first ancestor suspects it may be speaking of you, and this has the spirit realm very agitated.”
“What do you mean by the ‘very first’?” I inquired, hating how her answers just seemed like riddles to me.
“There has been one ancestor that has always eluded me, the one who started all of this, but for some reason she reached out to me two weeks ago and aided me in finding you. She added to my witchcraft and It enabled me to enter your dreams and to try to convince you to find me. I had been wondering why she chose that moment to come to me, but it’s starting to make a lot more sense now.”
I don’t know what came over me, but one minute I was standing there and the next I was throwing her table across the room, where it smashed into the wall and shards of wood flew off in every direction.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me,” I said wishing I could feel my regret and shame at the moment, as that was the least I deserved for my reaction.
“Do not fret Nipotina, it is a lot to handle, I do not blame you for what is beyond your control. Now I have a proposition for you if you would be so kind as to humour me for a moment. I have a spare bedroom upstairs that you are more than welcome to use, and I will tell you the story that Alina once told me, the one about love, betrayal and heartbreak. But that must wait until tomorrow, convening with the spirits has left me tired, but even if you choose to not spend the night, I will still tell you tomorrow, I promise.”
I was hesitant to agree at first but decided that I would take her up on the offer, as long as there were no locks on the outside of the doors, I pretty much said that to her. Which was clearly to her horror as she quickly ushered me over to a winding spiral staircase, that clearly led to an antic.
“Do not be alarmed, I converted it many years ago, just in case a need for it ever arose, my room is down here and although I will not disturb you, there is a door that you can close, should the need arise.”
She led me up the staircase to a beautiful room, and I honestly do not believe that my description can do it justice.
The floor was a dark mahogany coloured wood, with the same white cobblestone and beams as downstairs, as dark beams ran across the ceiling, with a sky light that let light from the moon and stars shine through.
There was a four poster bed, adorned in a soft cotton sheet, with a lightweight blanket and very inviting looking fluffy pillows.
There was an Egyptian style rug on the floor and a window seat in front of black framed French windows, with a balcony outside and a beautiful baby piano just off to the side of the seat.
I spun around to look at her, silently questioning how she did all this.
“This cottage was unable to have a conversion in the official sense, so I weaved a little magic and this was the creation. I can make any changes that you may require, this room will be yours to use whenever you wish to take me up on the offer. The only thing I ask is that you do not bring any one around here, I have worked very hard to not be known by the underworld and I would like to keep it that way.”
With that said she pressed a fleeting kiss to my cheek and descended the stairs and I instantly collapsed onto the bed and allowed the mattress to pull me down into its welcoming comfort.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Unya
The next morning, I awoke to the mouth-watering scent of pancakes, I honestly believed in that moment, heaven must have felt like this.
A wardrobe had magically appeared in my room overnight, brimmed full of clothes in numerous styles, she obviously hadn’t wanted to presume anything so I was left with a wide variety.
I ended up choosing a blue satin blouse and a pair of black jeans, with a pair of flat heeled leather boots. I realised I had not automatically chosen my old style, and realised that Kat had rubbed off on me a little.
I practically bounded down the stairs and found Mihaela standing at the stove in the kitchen, she told me to take a seat at the table and presented me a plate of pancakes and various choices of toppings, there was syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar and melted chocolate. I am not ashamed to say I tried every one of those, but thankfully saw the wisdom in not mixing them onto the same pancake.
I was truly ravenous and made fast work of my plate, then to her delight, I took up the job of dish washer and told her that it was the least I could do, after that we adjourned to our usual seat and she prepared herself to tell me the story that I was longing to hear.

Mihaela
“You have obviously heard the tales of Hercules who completed his twelve trials and was awarded with the opportunity to live out the remainder of his eternal life In Olympus. Well what the history books don’t know about is his mad love affair with a beautiful Sorceress. She had hair as black as ebony, skin as pale as alabaster and eyes as green as emeralds. She was a sight to behold and she was often spurning the advance of the men that lived near her.
One day she happened to catch the eye of Hercules himself and he decided then and there that he had to have her. She rejected him time and time again, but it just made him all that more determined to win her affections.
He would serenade her at her window, create lavish picnics in a beautiful meadow he deemed their spot and often picked the most beautiful wild flowers and hand delivered them to her door.
She fought her attraction for him tooth and nail but in the end, she succumbed to his charm. He promised he would love her forever and would even denounce the Gods and his father Zeus if she would only agree to be his.
