“What if she says no? This way I still have hope,” Adam said seriously, as if that made any sense. Alana just shook her head at a man’s logic.
“She is very pretty,” Alana told him. “She comes in the restaurant for lunch once in a while, and she is always so sweet and polite. She has a sister, Holly.”
Finally the fireworks started, and Alana leaned back against Noah. Adam sat next to his brother with his legs stretched out. Alicia had found a girlfriend to go and talk to. Ray and Colin were still down the hill with the girls.
“Isn’t this so amazing, Noah?” She loved fireworks, the brightness and the colorfulness, even the loud noise. “Poor Liam has to miss all this.”
Noah’s arm around her waist tightened. “I’m sure he is watching from somewhere, sweetheart.”
The show ended much too soon, and Alana sighed with disappointment. Noah chuckled at her pout.
“Come on, baby. I’ll make Adam light fireworks all night long.”
“Hey,” Adam protested. “I may have plans.”
“Do you?” Noah asked with curiosity.
“Yes. I’m meeting the guys from work at the bar. It’s supposed to be hopping tonight.” Adam pouted. “Faith’s sister works there, so she might show up.”
Alana laughed. “Go and have fun, Adam. At least as
k her to dance if she shows up. Someone else just might scoop her up if you don’t make a move.”
“Maybe. Night, Alana.” Adam kissed her cheek and headed toward his bike.
Ray walked up to them. “Hey, Sis. Alicia left with Carol and Hannah. Me and Colin are taking Millie and Sasha out to eat.”
“I’ll make sure she gets home,” Noah promised. Ray nodded happily and jogged off to go with Colin.
Alana followed him to his truck feeling shy and just a little nervous. She wanted Noah. Her body was in full agreement. It was her head that hesitated. What if she panicked? She wasn’t that experienced to begin with. She had had one lover in college, and that was years ago. It hadn’t been that memorable of an experience.
When they were driving, she made up her mind. “Noah, can we go to your house for a while?”
“Sure, baby,” he agreed easily.
Her stomach felt tingly, but she really wanted Noah. She leaned her head on his shoulder. “I want to make love with you.”
She saw his hands tighten on the wheel. “You sure? I don’t want you to regret it.”
“I won’t,” she said firmly. “I want to.”
He drove to his house silently. They walked hand in hand up the porch steps and into the house. A small lamp lit the living room. Otherwise the house was dark. He walked her down a long hallway and into his bedroom. It was in the back of the house. Adam and Liam’s rooms were upstairs.
She took a deep breath and sat on the large bed in the middle of the room. He turned a small light on. She was glad it was not bright. She was already nervous. The warm glow was much more comfortable.
“I have dreamed of having you here for so long, Alana,” he whispered sitting next to her. “I’m sorry it took so long for me to accept it. I never brought another woman here. Now I know I was waiting for you.”
He moved her hair out of the way and placed soft kisses on her neck and down to her collarbone. She felt shivers and closed her eyes. This was Noah, and she loved him. She turned her face toward him, and their lips met. She automatically allowed him access, and they devoured each other in a kiss all about rediscovering each other.
Her hands went to his shoulders, and she pulled him close to her. His hands lowered to her breasts and caressed them gently over her blouse. Alana realized Noah was trying to go slow. All of a sudden, she didn’t want to go slow anymore. She was sure of what she wanted. What she felt for this man was strong and fierce. It wasn’t going to fade away even if she moved to the other side of the world.
He removed her shirt and his own within minutes. He reached around her and unclipped her bra. When his thumb ran across her nipple, it hardened immediately. He tugged not so gently, and she moaned.
“Oh Noah, I love your hands on me,” she said honestly. She was worried the scar would be a turnoff. It was still red and raw.
When his hands caressed her side and near her belly button, she tensed up. He looked at her with a question in his eyes.
“My scar is ugly, Noah. You are used to being with perfect and beautiful women like Cora.”
