Promise Me

She laughed at me. She leaned over a little and her hair tickled my chest. She gently bit one of my nipples. “So much more, “she whispered like a naughty girl. I smacked her butt not hard and she gasped and then she laughed. “So much more,” she repeated.
My eyes were wide as I stared at this innocent beauty who captivated me in the last few weeks we lived together. The mother of my child. My naughty bride. “I told you the sex was amazing Ronan Moore.”
“Goddammit you did,” I declared.
“There is so much more we will share together,” she told me.
I was sure of it. I sat up wanting to be close to her. I wrapped my arm around her waist. I was getting close. Her body rubbed against mine. Her sweat mingled with mine. I kissed her lips. She gripped my shoulders. Then her arms slipped around my neck and held on. I could feel her orgasm wreck her. Her trembling in my arms was her tell. Her head went back and her breasts pressed into my chest. I held her tighter, never wanting to let her go.
Luke chose that moment to kick me hard in the stomach. I looked down between us. I waited for her to finish her orgasm then I rose with her in my arms and laid her gently on the edge of the bed resting her feet on my shoulders. I would have my release but with this position. I thrust harder into her until I did. I was breathing hard. She was staring into my face as I leaned over her. I kissed her belly then I kissed her lips. “That was pretty fucking amazing.” She giggled.
I pulled her to her feet and slapped her butt. “Get dressed and keep me company while I fix us dinner. I’m starving.”
I pulled up my boxers and shorts then I watched her find pajama bottoms and a top she was comfortable in. Tomorrow was a big day. We had a lot to do. Tuesday we would be married.
Chapter 12
On Monday, I spent the day with Maddie and Nickolas shopping for a dress. Thrilled Maddie to pieces. Not so much Nickolas. I should have left him at the farm with Gramps and Aine. I picked out a barely pink dress that gathered below the bust in chiffon which draped over my burgeoning belly to my knees with two inch straps and a round neckline. Tiny fake crystals lined the neck. Aine was doing my hair and had earrings I could wear. Daddy gave me his credit card to pay for my dress and shoes. I chose sensibly for the shoes. Simple, ballet flats in a similar color. My feet tended to swell these days.
After practice, Ronan went to the courthouse with Dom and got our marriage license then he met up with us at the farm. We invited the three of them to the wedding tomorrow night. Dom politely declined. Maddie cried.
“I’m sorry Dominick. I should have asked you first,” I apologized. I never wanted to cause this kid more problems.
I felt terrible for making the little girl cry. I was trying to comfort her. He sat down next to me on the sofa. “Maddie, you know we can’t leave Momma at night.”
“I know.” She wiped her tears.
“Only on Friday nights during football season.”
I smiled at the little girl. “I’ll get to see you during football season. I’ll be at every game,” I told her.
“You promise?” She asked.
“As long as something with the baby doesn’t prevent me coming,” I replied.
She hugged me. I smiled over her head at Dominick. “I’ll show you pictures and save you a piece of cake, Maddie. Would that be okay?” I asked.
She nodded.
The kid really needed normalcy. Ronan and I followed them out onto the porch. I touched Dominick’s arm and he turned to me. Ronan was standing behind me. Quietly, I said to him. “Please remember, if you need something…anything the Moore family is here for you.”
He hugged me then. I didn’t know what to do at first. Then I put my arms around him and held him. I wasn’t really that much older than him. Five years. I’m sure he felt lightyears older than me. He hugged me harder. “Thank you,” he finally said. Then he pulled away and walked to the car holding Maddie’s hand.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Maddie.” She nodded eagerly.
I felt Ronan behind me. I leaned back into him. “We need to go get our rings. Did you get everything else?” He asked.
“A dress and a cake. You got the marriage license. Gramps got someone to marry us and catering.”
“Who is coming?” He asked.
“I’ve heard from everyone but your Mom and Dad.”
“Let’s go get the rings,” he said knowing that they were most likely not coming but I wasn’t giving up. Mom promised to go over there tonight to try to convince them to come to our wedding.
Our rings were ridiculous. Twenty dollars each. Ronan hated it because both of his brothers purchased expensive engagement rings for my sisters. Ciaran purchased platinum wedding bands for him and Ryan. I loved the weight and the look of the tungsten band. He rolled his eyes at me thinking that I was just trying to be cheap. I really wasn’t. The wide 8mm band looked good on my hand as it did on his. He was still grumbling when we got to the truck. I stopped him at the door.
“Would you listen to me?” He put his hands on my hips but he wouldn’t look at me. “Ronan, look at me.”
