Danni Rose (The Sherwood)

her lips to the middle of his chest which caused him to groan and grip her hips in his hands to steady her or him, she didn’t know.
She loved how his hands felt holding her. Her eyes traveled up to his face. Walker’s eyes were closed so she flicked her tongue across his nipple, startling him. His eyes shot open and she smiled a cheeky smile.
Walker rolled her over to her back. “Danni, girl I love you so much.”
She held him to her. “I love you too Walker.” To hell with foreplay. She reached between them and undid his jeans, shoving them down to his knees. Walker moved her over and once their bodies were connected, nothing else existed outside of them pleasuring each other. The world that wasn’t always kind to either of them vanished. It was just them. Walker and Danni. A pair that didn’t make sense to anyone but them and maybe Danni’s family. They got them.
Lost in a haze of passion and need, they moved together. Thrust for thrust, their bodies moved together. They clung to each other where nothing mattered but them. The feel of them together. Loving each other. Skin against skin. Breathing together as one. Heat. Lust. Passion and love all rolled into one.
He couldn’t hold out for Danni and when he came every muscle in his body was tense. His breath was hot against her neck where his face was buried in her hair. His murmur of her name near her ear was soft and gentle. It also confirmed what his words said to her. He loved her with everything in him. Danni could hear it in just how he said her name.
She had always been level headed or at least she had since Jackson left town and showed her that fairy tales didn’t exist. She didn’t have her head in the clouds. Danni knew life was hard. She knew life with Walker wouldn’t always be easy. There would be people who would look at him and think harshly of him because of his prison time.
He withdrew his body from hers. A shiver of cold traveled through Danni. Walker moved her to the head of the bed and covered her. Then he slipped out of his jeans and joined her beneath the blankets, tucking her into his side. Once again, the feeling that this was all kinds of right filled her. Danni was where she belonged with Walker Wild. She smiled. Her hand slid across his belly pulling him closer.
“Last chance Danni Rose,” he whispered.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she replied.
Chapter 15
She was disgruntled. Walker hadn’t asked her father yet for her hand in marriage as he said he was going to and Danni didn’t know why. It was nearing Halloween. A month or more since that night sitting at her island where he told her that was the first step to solidifying their future together.
She was working on a car, grumbling to herself about men when Matt walked into the bay where she worked. He said her name. He startled her, she jumped and bumped her head on the edge of the raised hood. Her brother looked at her contritely. “I’m sorry.”
Danni wiped her hands on a rag laying on the edge of frame. “What are you doing here?”
“I have some news to share with you,” Matt informed her.
“Oh goody, more bad, news.” Danni wiped the back of her hand across her brow. She faced her brother who still hadn’t spoken yet. “Matt, what is it? Not Mom or Dad? Granddad?”
“No Danni. Jackson’s mom died. I know you’re with Walker, but he could use his friends right now.”
She sighed. Then she looked down at her work boots, scuffing the concrete beneath her feet. “I don’t know if I qualify as a friend, Matt.”
“Danni, you do. If anyone does. You do. For four years, you were his best friend besides being his girlfriend.”
Her eyes met those of her brother, she glanced up at Matt. “After work, I’ll walk over to his mom’s house and give him my condolences.”
“He would appreciate that Danni.”
Matt left her after that, letting her get back to work. Walker showed up for lunch bringing her a sandwich and salad from her father’s pub. She washed her hands and slipped on a jacket that she had hung on the rack in her granddad’s office. He wasn’t here today. His chair was empty. Many days recently Hal hadn’t been here, leaving Danni to run the garage.
She walked out of the office and shut the door behind her. Behind the garage, was a picnic table that was shaded by a large Oak that had been here before the garage. When it was built, her grandfather left the tree, unable to tear down the massive Oak. Eventually, the workers built this table. Some had carved their names into it, so they would be remembered.
Walker sat facing her when she walked through the back door. She smiled at him. His presence filled her with a sense of peace. She sat opposite him and he slid her sandwich across the table towards her.
“You aren’t eating?” She asked.
“I did before I brought that to you. I know you’ve been busy, so I wanted to make sure that you ate.”
She nodded. He was right. Since, her grandfather had been leaving so much to her, she had been busy, and eating was the last thing on her mind. “I need to hire someone. Want the job?”
He laughed at her. “I thought that was the plan.”
“So, did I,” she replied, and she didn’t like that she sounded so uncertain.
Walker reached across the table and grasped Danni’s hand in his. “What’s on your mind, Danni Rose?” He asked. He knew her well.
