Rocky Start (A Rocky Start)

“It’s my duty. They’re my parents.” She kisses my throat. “Do you think Bennett will notice if we…”
“Yes. Besides, I don’t want anyone else to hear your moans. They belong to me.” She loves when I get all territorial. I slip my hand under her dress and cup her pussy and feel the wetness through her panties.
“Sean, I need to get into my office. Are you done with that call?” Bennett asks.
“Sure.” I set Georgie on her feet and unlock the door.
“I needed a break for a minute. Are you okay, Georgie?” Bennett asks.
“Of course—why?”
“Your sister said you looked upset.” He doesn’t know the details, but I told him that there was something important Georgie had to share with her sisters, and it wasn’t good.
“She was rescuing me from her mother’s clutches.”
“Does that woman know that you’re wealthier than I am?” he says with a begrudging laugh.
“Nope, and I’m not telling her that. It’s not her business how much money either of us have. She wants to think less of me, that’s fine. As long as I have Georgie, nothing else matters.” Georgie squeezes her arms around my waist and presses her lips to my shoulder.
“I love you too. I never asked, but I had no idea you were richer than Bennett. Not that it matters at all. I plan on being a schoolteacher, and we know that you don’t do it for the money.”
“That’s because you want to be a great influence to young kids. You’re going to make a great mother.” I kiss her softly and then cup her cheek, twisting our bodies to completely face each other and intensify our embrace. “I love you, Georgie.”
“I love you too.”
“I hate to break up the romance in here, but I don’t want a party in my office, and I have a feeling that woman will be beating down my door if we don’t make an appearance.”
“Where’s Darcy?”
“Helping set up the room for Marlow so that he could rest soon. He’s still got a long road ahead of him, and Lydia wants him to be able to lie down if needed.”
“He probably hates that shit, doesn’t he?”
“You bet, but there’s nothing he can do about it. He’s been through this before, and the recovery process is a long one.”
We open the door, and Georgie’s mother is just about to knock. “There you are, Georgie. I wanted a word with you for a minute.”
“It’s Darcy and Bennett’s special day, Mom. We need to focus on them.”
“I know, but you’re…well…we have this friend in Miami, and they have a son.”
“Enough. Sean and I are getting married, and I’m not interested in marrying anyone else.”
“But we promised you’d meet him. He’s at the hotel right now.” I mentally shove Georgie behind me to protect her against this other guy.
“The fuck comes here, and I’ll show him what happens when you try stealing what’s not yours.”
“See? He treats you as property.”
“Mother, this is Darcy and Bennett’s wedding reception. I won’t entertain any conversation on the subject, and I won’t meet this man. End of discussion. Bennett, I’m sorry. Sean, come. Let’s go speak to some of the other guests. I’m sure there are some people here you can introduce me to.”
My blood boils as I think about that bitch trying to get Georgie to leave me, or just trying to mess up our relationship. “Sweetheart, I need a minute.”
“Are you sure? Don’t do anything dumb.” I’m sure that I won’t go to jail because I know the local sheriff, but doing something dumb is still in the realm of possibilities.
“I’m not.”
“Okay, but Tate’s on the back deck with Blake. How about I talk to my sister while you chat with Tate?”
“How did you know?” She arches her brow and twists her lips like I’m a total ass, and I’m a jealous guy.
“Sean, please. You’re trying to find out who he is. Just don’t end up on the other end of the publicity. It’s not worth it because I’m not going anywhere but to get some food and then to be waiting for the night to be over so you can eat me for dessert.” She stands on her tiptoes and kisses my lips.
“Woman, I’ll be right back. I promise.” I kiss her hard and pull back to get Tate alone. Once we’re done talking, I have this asshole’s information in my hands and I’m ready to find him and kill him if I have to, but it seems I don’t need to bother. He’s standing there talking to my woman and her parents.
“Hello, you must be the fiancé Ms. James just informed about.” He sticks his hand out, and I give him a firm shake.
“I am. Sean McFadden.”
“I feel like I should know you,” he says, tilting his head slightly as if there’s some recognition. I’ve been on television many times in passing with my clients over the years, but I haven’t been in the spotlight, so it’s rare.
