What if she’d made a terrible mistake?

She had to live with Zane.

What if you like him a little too much and he ends up with lots of groupies?

She really hadn’t thought this through enough, and now there was no time to think as she’d see him that evening.

Even though her attention was on the kids, she couldn’t stop for even a second thinking about Zane and his kiss. He’d completely taken over and kissed her in a way that had her begging for more. Not only had she not wanted him to stop, she’d been more than ready for more. So much more.

Her pussy had been so wet, and she wanted him to touch her, to make her orgasm.

Those feelings had never happened, not with a guy.

Pushing them to the back of her mind, she finished her day at school, lingering in the evening to help with the last of the preparations with Tammy, who happened to hate parent-teacher day, before heading home.

His truck was parked in his driveway when she got home. Grabbing her groceries, she made her way into her home. Before she’d even put the bag on the counter, there was a knock on her door. She closed her eyes for just a few seconds to find some kind of peace, any peace. When nothing came, she had no choice but to make her way toward the door, opening it up.

Both his hands rested on the frame, and his smile caught her completely off guard.

“Had a good day at work?” Zane asked.

“Yes.” Any of her doubts left her as she looked at him. “You?”

“Wrote a couple of really crappy songs, but everything’s set up at the bar.”

“Would you like to come in?”

“Love to.” He entered her home and she stood, watching him, not really knowing what to say or do. “I’m wishing you had a beer right now.”

Surprising even herself, she started to laugh.

“You don’t have to start freaking out. I’m not going to jump on you or demand anything. We’re just two friends here hanging out.”

“Yeah. Do all of your friends ask you to take their virginity?”

“Not really. It was touch and go with Riot.”

She threw her head back and laughed again, walking back to her kitchen. He’d put her completely at ease.

“I’m not going to be able to look at him without picturing that.”

“He deserves it. Always thinking he’s a gift to women.”

“Want a drink? Tea? Coffee? Soda?”

“Beer?” he asked, winking at her.

“I don’t keep it in the house.”

“It’s like a truth serum for you.”

“I was thinking a ‘never shut up’ kind of serum.” She tucked some stray strands of hair behind her ear, and she gritted her teeth as nerves kept getting the better of her.

“I’m not going to jump you. This isn’t a rush for me to rid you of that pesky little V-card you’re so desperate to let go of.”

“I’m not desperate. I just want to know what all the fuss is about. I’ve never really been all that interested in sex and guys.”

“Cheers,” he said. “I’ll take a cup of coffee.”

She nodded and began to fill her kettle.

“You know I’ve got a pool, and I was wondering if you’d like to go for a swim. It’s been a long day, and you really need to relax before you totally hurt yourself.”

“I’d like that. It has been ages since I went for a swim.”

“I’ll even show you a little access into my garden that the woman showed me,” he said.

“Access?”

“Yes. Did you know these two houses have a rumor attached to them?” he asked.

“Not you as well?”

“What?”

“Do you really think that two homes can bring two people together, and the two that are living there at the same time will magically fall in love?”

“With how sarcastically you’re saying that I’m going to take a hunch and say you don’t believe in it?”

“It’s a bunch of bull. It has to be.”

“Okay, what if I can say that I know for certain the last three couples here are all married and happy settled?”

“Well, I know Slade and Cassie are. They’re in town.”

“Yes, but the couples before that as well. They moved away, but they’re still together.”

She finished making them both a cup of coffee. “Say I believe you, what does that even mean?”

“It means that one day soon you’re going to find yourself completely and totally in love with me.”

“Well if that’s true, then it means you’re going to be the same with me. You’re going to think of nothing and no one but me.” She placed a hand on her chest and smiled. “Would that be pure torture to you?”

“Not at all. I quite like thinking about you.” He took a sip of his coffee, staring over the rim of the cup, which made her stomach twist, and she had no choice but to press her thighs together. Damn, this man was good.
