“If it is him, he can’t be far.”

“River is going to dig deeper and see what else he can find out. That could take a few days, though.”

Camden couldn’t help grinding his teeth. A few days was too long when danger was hovering around the only person who meant anything to you.

“And now you’re mega tense again,” Aspen noted. “Hmm, how about that blow job?” She dropped to her knees and tackled his fly.

Camden intended to let her lead; to let her have her way. But it wasn’t long before he was fucking her face. She took it. Didn’t struggle. And when he exploded in her mouth, she swallowed every drop.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“It’s not going to matter how many times you put on this movie, I’m never going to like it.”

Sitting between Camden’s thighs on the sofa a few days later, Aspen frowned at him over her shoulder. “But it has a bit of everything. Humor. Action. Romance—”

“Zombies.”

“They’re such a small part of the movie.”

“A small part?”

“Yes, they’re not vital to the plot.”

“Gorgeous, it’s called Shawn of the Dead. So I’d say those walking dead people are kind of important to the storyline.”

She huffed and turned back to the TV. “There’s no pleasing you.”

Humming, he tucked his face into the crook of her neck. “Lots of things please me. For instance, this pleases me.” He bit her. Which she might have grumbled about, but then he went back to massaging her shoulders and, God, that felt good.

He’d given her massages before. Dozens of them. But there was a sensuality to this one that hadn’t been present in the others. Also, she wore only her underwear—he’d walked into the bedroom after she’d had her shower, found her in only her bra and panties, and asked her to stay exactly like that while they watched the movie. Aspen was no shy flower, so she’d agreed. And now here they were.

Of course, she’d been more than happy to accept his offer of a massage. Camden’s hands were damn magical. He wasn’t only focusing on her shoulders. No, his hands glided over her nape, back, and upper arms; his thumbs stroking, rubbing, circling, and digging into muscle.

Now Aspen was as pliant as melted wax, and her bearcat was practically asleep.

Aspen was also turned on to the point of being wet. And he knew it. He had to be able to scent her need. He hadn’t commented on it, though. Just as she hadn’t commented on the hard cock digging into her back.

“Such a pretty view,” he said, leaning over her shoulder, gazing down at her cleavage.

She snickered. “I’m surprised how much you like breasts.”

“Why? What’s not to like about them? These ones in particular are phenomenal.”

“I just mean, you know, you always seemed more interested in men than women.”

“Hmm.” He sank his teeth into her neck. Again.

On cue, her inner walls fluttered. “You like to bite, don’t you?”

“I like to bite you.”

She really should complain about how often he did it but, well, she didn’t want to. If she was honest with herself, she liked the displays of possessiveness. And since it didn’t gall or upset her bearcat, there was no great need to ask him to stop.

Obviously, if the animal ever ceased being so blasé about it, Aspen would have to insist he stopped. The trouble was … she wasn’t so sure he would. Camden did what Camden wanted to do, and he’d never bothered to tone down his territorial behavior in the past. As if he saw it as his right to be territorial.

Of course, the biting would be a thing of the past when they slipped back into being platonic friends. Their old boundaries would return. And she knew from watching how he’d switched from lovers to sort-of-friends so easily with others that he wouldn’t struggle. She knew that, for him, it would be as if they’d never crossed any lines.

It annoyed her to admit—even if only to herself—that she wasn’t yet in a mental place where it wouldn’t hurt when they returned to being “just friends.” She needed a little longer to burn off the chemistry. Things would go back to the way they were. She just needed more time.

As yet, she had no reason to panic that she wouldn’t get that time, since he didn’t appear to be becoming bored with their arrangement. He would eventually, though. Boredom always crept in fast for Camden.

As one of her favorite scenes began to play, Aspen pointed at the TV. “Ooh, here comes a cool part. Watch.” Once it was over, she chuckled. “Funny, right?”

“No.”

She sighed. “Do you really have to be so miserable?”

“I’m not miserable. I’m simply not entertained.”

“I don’t understand how you can possibly dislike this movie. It is ace.”

Camden felt one corner of his mouth twitch. He’d never known anyone else to champion the zombie movie genre with such a passion. “Ace in your estimation, yeah,” he said, dancing his fingertips over the soft swells of her beautiful breasts. “Not in mine, though. You really need to quit trying to convert me into a zombie-movie fan. It’s not gonna happen.” He’d never seen the appeal in them, never would.
