Canon let out a dramatic gasp. “Wait, hold up. Did you just say you agreed with me?”

Glaring at him, I raised an eyebrow. “I did. Don’t let it go to your head.”

Lunging at me and pulling me into his lap, he squeezed hard enough that the precious oxygen I’d only just regained in my lungs left them in a whoosh. “I knew you loved me. Didn’t I say you were in denial?”

With how his arms were wrapped around me, my own were trapped at my sides, but that didn’t mean I was helpless. Hell no, I still had options, and one of them included pinching the sensitive skin on the underside of his bicep. The trick was just to get the skin—not that he had much fat, the lucky bastard—and then squeeze it between your fingers as hard as you could.

The scream that came out of him as I did it was beyond satisfying, and the second his arms loosened, I lifted up on my feet and then dropped back down on his lap, aiming my booty for his stomach.

Unfortunately, I misjudged it, and one cheek hit his gut, just as the other hit his crotch. The second scream wasn’t as satisfying as the first. If a woman doesn’t feel guilt when she accidentally crushes a guy’s nuts, she needs an accidental hit to the tit to reset her conscience.

I felt like a massive asshole. A man’s balls were sacred ground, and even though I’d never experienced the pain a blow to one could cause, I could imagine just how painful it was.

Jumping up and making sure I didn’t lose my balance and hit him again, I gasped, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to get you in the—” I waved at his crotch, then stopped and stared.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I wasn’t attracted to Canon Klein because I was, but I was happy with where I was in my life. I had a business, a job, a life, and a home. I also had security and had found the place Ned Dahl had been talking about outside the courthouse.

I just didn’t trust that anything else would come along to add to it and make it better because surely there was a balance? If you upset that balance—i.e., your cup runneth over—then it’d ruin everything else, right?

And that’s what Canon could do to my life, and I just wasn’t willing to risk it. It also wouldn’t be fair to him if I gave in. I was broken in a way that’d change his life, and I couldn’t do that to him, either.

Because of all of that, I’d never allowed myself to look at his crotch properly. Come on, most women have a sneaky glance south of the border on a guy they like, just like men took covert looks at our boobies. It was a thing.

I’d never done it before, but now that I was…

A woman was only so strong.

With how he was rubbing his gut and thigh, I had a brief moment’s relief that maybe I hadn’t done some damage to a sensitive region of his body, mainly the pillows beneath what appeared to be a cock that would—

“Jacinda,” Naomi hissed in my ear. “Stop looking at the poor guy’s dick like it’s a lollipop.”

I tried, believe me, I tried, but I just couldn’t. I knew I must look like a ho-bag who’d been stuck on an island without a penis for five years, but I just couldn’t tear my eyes away from it.

He was wearing blue jeans that fit him like they’d been made for him, and I really wanted to know if that was a shadow under his dick or if it was the dye they’d used on the fabric. And was that a huge crease or pocket of material puffed up next to his crotch, or did it house the biggest c—

“Aunt Jacinda, guess what?” a little voice screeched just as something ran into my legs, almost knocking me on my ass. “I helped screw a hole.”

I was going to hell. My brain was in the gutter, and this pretty little baby was trying to share her excitement with me.

“That’s… that’s great! Check you out, you little mechanic.” It started off weakly, but with a big grin and a deep breath, I winged it.

She spun to look at Canon to share the news with him and frowned when she saw the grimace on his face. “You got a bellyache, Uncle Canon?”

He glared over the top of her head at me. “Something like that.” Getting up from the couch and with the pain evident on his face, he held his hand out to Shanti. “Wanna show me what you did?”

And this was what I meant by the balance. I’d given in and allowed myself one second of what I’d thought would be a joke, and it’d backfired.
