“Of course not.” Jacinda rolled her eyes. “Okay, I get it. I love your traits, and you love mine.”

Dropping my head to kiss her, I enjoyed the taste of her for a moment before pulling away. “Does that mean you love me, baby?”

“I’m absolutely, irrevocably, entirely, in love with you, Canon Klein.”

My heart and gut felt like they were going to explode. “Irrevocably?”

Jacinda lifted a shoulder in a shrug. “I read it in a book once, and it seemed like a good time to use it.”

As I threw my head back and laughed, with our bodies still attached in the most intimate way.

That was also the moment I truly realized how amazing life with Jacinda Bandara was going to be. There’d never be a dull moment, I’d never get what I was expecting, and I couldn’t fucking wait.

Realizing I could feel my legs again, I stood up, chuckling when she squeaked and wrapped her arms and legs tightly around me.

“Will you warn me when you do that, please?”

“Why? I’ll never drop you, so it’d be pointless.”

Instead of arguing with me like I expected her to, she grabbed my face with her hands and turned it so she could kiss me. I was so engrossed in it that I walked us into the door frame, making her giggle and groan just as I swore as my toe connected with the wood.

Then, just to prove he was the little asshole we knew him to be, Damian came out from where he’d scuttled while we were having sex on the couch, and attacked my ankle.

This time I did drop Jacinda, but thankfully I managed to make it to the bed first.

CHAPTER 12

Jacinda

Four weeks later…

“I love you, but if you don’t get your psycho pussy away from me, I’m going to lose my mind,” Canon yelled from the bathroom, not realizing I was sitting in my living room with his brothers.

“Psycho pussy, hey?” Bond snickered, wiggling his eyebrows at me.

“You know, ever since you got together with Heidi, you’ve become really weird. What’s with the eyebrow thing?” I asked, ignoring the cursing and angry cat noises coming from the bathroom still.

“For fuck’s sake, you’ve got three water bowls, you little bastard. Why are you drinking from the faucet? And stop staring at me while I take a piss.” The sound of the toilet flushing followed Canon’s rant. “You always have to make it awkward.”

“That cat’s fucking awful,” Reid rumbled, rubbing his wrist where Damian had latched on when he’d arrived, just before he’d run off to make Canon’s life miserable.

Jarrod was lounged out in my recliner, looking like he didn’t have a care in the world, so when he finally spoke, his deep voice made me jump. “Why’s he such an asshole?”

“Why does my car act up at the worst moments?” My question had all three of their gazes on me. “My point is, who knows? We took him to the vet just last week about it, and he recommended we get him neutered. Apparently, it’s likely to be Damian’s hormones teamed with some residual PTSD from the trauma he went through as a little kitten.”

Ever the mechanic, Jarrod got up and moved over to where the keys to my car were on the side table. “Your car’s giving you shit still? I’ll take a look.”

Before I could tell him I was looking for a new car and had accepted that my fifteen-year-old Mini was toast, he was out the door.

“He likes to feel useful,” Reid told me. “That’s why we always leave the big jobs to him.”

“I do the same with my sisters. Except, now that we’re older, it doesn’t work that much anymore.”

“Get your pussy off me, Jacinda,” Canon clipped as he walked into the living room. “I’ve got its hair all over my—” he cut off as he saw his brothers watching him, clearly amused at what he was saying.

Crossing his arms over his chest, Bond smirked at him. “You were saying?”

Dropping down next to me and taking the cup of coffee I was just about to take a mouthful from out of my hand, Canon groaned. “That cat’s fucking evil. I don’t care that he’ll be missing his nuts for the rest of his life, I’m booking him in for that operation. If I offer him five hundred bucks as a bonus, do you think the vet would do it today?”

“I’d say it’s unlikely, but we’ll call him and get the first available date, okay?” I felt so guilty booking the surgery, but if it was best for Damian and stopped him being such a shithead, I’d suck it up.

Canon smiled gratefully at me, then looked over at Reid. “What are y’all doing here?”

“Jarrod’s out looking at Jacinda’s car, and I’m here because I need your girl’s advice. Katy and Heidi are pregnant and hormonal, and I can’t take it when they cry, so they’re the last ones I’d ask for the advice I need. I don’t know why this asshole’s here, though, because he hasn’t said.” Reid nodded at Bond as he said the last bit, but I was just rejoicing in the feeling hearing him say he wanted my advice had caused.
