“Please, you and I, we don’t mix. We’d never mix. I’m from the wrong side of town.”

“Last time I checked, you lived on the same street as me. You’re fighting. I wonder who told you to be the good girl. Your dad? Did he tell you to always be Daddy’s special girl?”

“You have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“No, it’s not Daddy. I bet if he told you to be good, to be nice, you’d do the complete opposite because you hate his guts.” He smiled. “I’m going to guess … Mommy.”

She started to struggle against him.

“Yeah, you’ve got no friends. No one else in your life who’d tell you to do the right thing. The only person left is the woman that killed herself. The woman your father won’t allow you to have even a memory of. Those clothes you wear, your mom didn’t pick them out. Hannah did.”

“How do you know Hannah?” she asked. “I saw the way she was with you guys. Something is going on there.”

“In our world, there is always something going on. Let’s not change the subject though. Did Mommy want you to be a special little girl? Did she tell you how right it was to be good? To always tell the truth. To make Daddy proud.”

She pushed against his hold, and when she went to draw her knee up, he dodged that. Stepping right up against her, he spread her thighs, resting his between hers, drawing it up her legs. He didn’t touch her pussy even though he wanted to.

He wanted to turn that fire to passion. Her anger and rage bubbled beneath the surface, threatening to spill out. She’d been feeling this way for a lot longer than he would have guessed.

“Let me go,” she said.

“No.”

“Now.”

“No.”

She thrashed in his arms, and still, he held her still even as she screamed.

He watched her unleash all of her pain. Her anger. Her rage.

It was so beautiful. He marveled at being the one to bring it out. She was perfection. Not once did he let her go, or did he regret holding her here. She belonged to him.

Forever.

She’d match all of them so perfectly, so well. The beauty she displayed wasn’t easy to find, but he would nurture this part of her. He’d find an outlet for her rage and allow her to break free.

Axel and the others arrived as she came to a stop. Her voice was hoarse as she asked him once more to let her go.

He still didn’t. Stepping close to her, he breathed her in.

“You shouldn’t keep that shit inside,” he said. “It’s toxic.”

Locking their fingers together, he gave her space, tucking her against his side as Axel, Buck, and Jett stepped out of the car.

“I got her shit,” Jett said, lifting up the bag.

“Is that why you weren’t fighting?” Draven asked.

“Yeah, he’s too much of a pussy to get his hands dirty. Always thinking of the ladies.” Axel laughed.

Harper remained tense at his side, waiting for one or the other to turn their aggression on her.

“You shouldn’t have started that fight,” she said.

“It was fun, and Ben had it coming. Fucker has been messing with us since the start of the year. Thinks he’s better than us because he drives a fancy car and can stick his dick into anything he wants.” Buck shook his head, looking sick.

“Even those that are not willing,” Axel said.

He stared at his friends, and it felt right to have Harper by his side. She didn’t pull away or cause a scene.

He imagined she was exhausted.

“I’m taking her home,” he said.

“Usual meet area?” Axel asked.

He nodded. There were a few things they were going to have to discuss. Ben would try to retaliate at some point. There’s no way he’d accept taking a beating like that because of Harper. Besides, he had a feeling his boys wanted to talk to him.

Helping Harper back into his car, he nodded at his friends as he pulled out of the abandoned garage.

“Are you going to get into trouble?”

“Nope. I don’t believe in ever getting into trouble.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Do me a favor, don’t allow yourself to be alone. Quit the waitressing work.”

“Why?”

“Because I said so.”

She shook her head. “I enjoy it.”

“Find something else to do. I don’t know, take up a hobby.”

“No. Don’t be a dick about this. I’m going to work, I enjoy it.”

“I’ll tell your dad.”

“Don’t be a dick.”

He smiled. “It’s my middle name.”

He pulled up outside of her home and saw Hannah getting out of her car. She looked over, giving a little frown before waving at them.

“What is the deal with you guys and her?” Harper asked.

“Don’t have a clue.”

“You’re lying to me.”

“I don’t lie.”

“You’re lying about lying.”

He laughed. “I’ll tell, and it’ll end badly for you.”

She climbed out of the car, and he watched her ass as she walked. He liked her ass. He’d been admiring it for several years.
