Coop (Reckless Souls MC 1) - Page 17

I knew nothing would get him to change his mind. “Okay, Daddy, thanks.”

“Sheesh, girl, that sounded brutal.” Ruby’s comforting hand on my arm makes me feel better. “You all right?”

I put a smile on my face and nod. “Yep. I’m good. He’s not coming, but the auto club should be here in about twenty minutes.”

“That’s exactly the right amount of time to get all the dirty details about bathroom time with the hot biker.”

At the mention of Coop, my insides squirm all over again, and I feel my heart racing as flashes of his gorgeous face, his broad shoulders appear in my mind’s eye.

On the heels of those flashes come others, his bloody lip, his face twisted in rage as his fists pounded that other biker, the way he roared for us to leave.

“I already told you everything, and it doesn’t matter anyway. I have no plans to see him again.” Not that he asked.

“Why? You love the bad boys.”

“I do have a weak spot for bad boys.” My therapist will tell you it’s not about the guys so much as a part of my self-destructive streak due to a lifetime struggle with depression, which is a depressing thought. “The fuck was incredible like I’ve never been fucked before, but that bar scene was a bit too real. Ya know? Scary.”

“Yeah, I get it, but you two seemed really cozy at the pool table. Smiling and flirting.”

My skin heats up just thinking about Coop. “He made me come on the pool table. My freakin’ underwear’s in his pocket.”

“Eww! I’m never playing pool there again!” Ruby laughs.

“Well, even if either of us was interested in another night, there’s no way to find him because I’m not going back there.” Am I? “It’s too damn scary.”

“Joaquin’s leather vest said Reckless Souls, but if you’re not interested in another night, it’s irrelevant.”

“Exactly.” Right now, I can’t stop thinking about Coop, but in a day or two, my life will get back to normal with classes and trips to the library, research, and lots of reading.

I’ll be too busy to think about Coop.

Much.

Chapter Six

Coop

“Take that shit out of my bar, Coop.” Joe slams the bat against the top of the bar to emphasize his point.

“I was just about to do that, Joe.” I flash an innocent smile at him and reach down to grab a handful of Nogales’ hair. As I make my way toward the back exit, tugging him through the bar, his body makes a satisfying smack against the pool tables.

“Right behind ya, Coop.” Joaquin’s shout sounds over the hard rock, and even over the music, I can hear the smile in his voice. The kid is determined to turn his life around, but even still, he takes pleasure in kicking ass when it comes to protecting the brothers and the club.

“Me, too.” Lucky, one of the Souls’ prospects, drags the other prospect down the same path until we have all three Iron Kings lined up against the brick wall out back.

“It’s a good thing you called for the assist,” I say.

Joaquin nods and turns to me. “I wasn’t sure if we were gonna just fuck some shit up, or silence them for good, so I called for backup.”

“I brought the van,” Lucky adds with a crooked grin. “Just in case.”

“A bunch of fuckin’ boy scouts,” I mutter under my breath, though I’m grateful for the prospects and their quick thinking. I stare at Nogales and his guys, knowing I can’t kill them to just end this asshole without talking to Ace or instigating another fight.

Nogales laughs and spits out a mouth full of blood. “Prepare yourself, boys. These cock-suckers are angling for blow jobs.” He rests his head against the wall, grabs his crotch, and laughs.

Lucky steps forward, a dark look on his face as he unfastens his belt. “Is that your way of asking nicely if you can suck some cock? Don’t worry, Nogales, your secret is safe with us, isn’t it, boys?”

All three men are nervous now, eyes carefully watching Lucky to see what he’ll do next. “Look, man, we were just—”

“Shut the fuck up, and open your mouth,” Lucky shouts and pulls his cock out. “All of you. Open up.”

“Yo, Lucky.” Joaquin puts a hand on his buddy’s arm, but Lucky isn’t listening.

“Now tell me again, who’s a cocksucker?” He paces up and down the spot of concrete in front of the three, looking like the scariest of the Reckless Souls prospects for the first time.

Joaquin shoots me a questioning look, and I shrug. “Lucky, man, these guys aren’t worth it.”

Lucky looks over at Joaquin and then me, dark eyes black and mischievous under the glowing yellow light in the alley.

“Oh, believe me, they are so fucking worth it.” He turns back to the Iron Kings. “Who wants to go first?”
