She opened her eyes. “Get out of bed.”

He wriggled a little more, and she glared at him.

“That’s my bed.” She tried to push him out.

He held her wrist, pulling her across him and gripping her ass tightly. He loved the feel of her soft ass. It would feel even better nestled against his cock.

She tried to heave her body off him, and he laughed. “So cute. You know that.”

“You’re not going to budge?”

“Nope.”

“You’re impossible.”

“Actually, I’m cute. I’ve been told so many times.”

“I doubt that.”

She rolled away from him and started to put some pillows between them. Each one she placed between them, he put back near her head.

“Just stop,” she said. “Does my dad even know you’re here?”

“Yes. He saw me come right up here. He probably thinks I’m fucking your brains out right now.”

“I hate you.”

“Hate me all you want.” He tugged her down onto the bed, putting her into a position that was comfortable for him. He sighed, pressing his face against her neck.

“You’re a pain in the ass,” she said.

“Don’t worry, one day you’ll love me for it.”

“Yeah, right.”

She sighed, and she was still tense, even five minutes later.

“I’m not going to hurt you.”

“I know.”

“Then why are you tense?” he asked. He cupped her hip and leaned up so that he could look down at her.

She turned her head to the side, and he stared at her plump lips. They were designed to be kissed.

He didn’t kiss her.

“Tell me.”

“I’ve never had a guy in my bed before. Forgive me for not being used to … this.”

“Sweet, little virginal Harper.”

She tried to pull away from him, but again, he wouldn’t let her go.

“You’re not getting away from me that easily,” he said, trapping her on the bed.

During the slight struggle she gave, he’d somehow managed to move between her thighs, nestled close to her pussy.

“Will you stop doing this to me? I’m getting bored.”

“Then stop trying to run from me. You’re going to learn one day that it’s not going to help you either way.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Cute, Harper, real cute.”

He leaned down so that his lips were close to hers. He waited until she was focused on him.

It wouldn’t be so hard to kiss her.

Just a brush of lips against lips, only, he didn’t do it. He pulled himself away and sat back.

“Get off.”

“No reason to get pissed at me.” He wrapped his arm around her waist and settled back into bed.

“Aren’t you worried that my dad will come in and shoot you?”

He laughed. “Please, that asshole won’t even try.”

“You’re insulting my father. It’s really not fair.”

He snorted. “You think I give a shit? He hit you. You need to learn not to defend those that will hit you, Harper. They don’t deserve your time or your energy. They’re worthless.”

“How can you talk like that? He’s my father.”

“Who hit you. He doesn’t have a right to even get to register in your guilt. He’s not worth it.”

“He’s still my father.”

“Is that the kind of defense you’re going to give him? What would your mother say?”

“Don’t bring her into this.”

She made to leave, but he wouldn’t let her. Keeping her in place, he stared into her eyes. So filled with pain.

He regretted bringing her up.

“Don’t … mention her.”

“You can’t hide from her forever, Harper.”

“I’m not hiding. I’m just not giving myself the chance to …”

“You’re not allowing yourself the chance to miss her.”

“I can’t,” she said.

He hated how sad she looked, how lost.

“She was a good mother,” he said.

She sniffled and tried to turn her head. He cupped her cheek, stroking away the tears that spilled out of the corner of her eye.

“She killed herself while I was at school. She’s not a good anything.”

“She loved you.”

“You don’t know that. If she did, she’d still be here now, and I wouldn’t be alone. She wasn’t strong enough. She didn’t care enough.”

“You’re not alone.”

“I punched my father because he wanted to talk to me about sex and wouldn’t listen when I said my mom had already covered it. I also insulted him about having an infected dick.”

He laughed. “Good.”

“That’s not good, Draven. It’s disrespectful.”

“He doesn’t deserve you. He left you and your mother. Never forget that, and don’t allow him to think that he can have better than you. He’s just a guy with a loose dick.”

“Who is Hannah?” she asked.

“No one you need to concern yourself with.”

“Have you fucked her?”

“Look at you, speaking all big girl words.”

“Don’t mock me.”

“I’m not.” He moved off her, missing the warmth of her legs. Pulling her against his chest, he snuggled in tight.

“You should go home.”

“That’s not going to happen.”

“Why not?”

“You need this.”

“Draven, I don’t need anything.”

“Keep saying that to yourself. I know the truth.”

He imagined her rolling her eyes, and he smiled against her neck.

“This is nice,” she said.

“Be careful, it won’t be long until you’re begging for me to sleep with you.”
