“You’re too hot for your own good,” he growled, thrusting deep and fast as I still twitched through the longest climax of my life. Or maybe it was a second one. I couldn’t even tell, my fingers digging into the backs of his shoulders as my hips thrust up against him while my body squirmed.

“My sexy, sweet love,” he groaned, then I could feel his cock twitching and throbbing as he came deep inside me. It was amazing how much his satisfaction thrilled me.

“Yes,” I moaned, clutching him to me, kissing his shoulder blade while we caught our breath.

He gripped my face in his hands. “I love you so much, Katy,” he whispered gently. His dark eyes were so intense. “Stay here.” He kissed my nose, then went to the washroom, I assumed to get rid of the condom. He returned quickly, spreading my legs gently as he cleaned me with a warm, wet washcloth.

Throwing it into a hamper, he laid down and cuddled me into his arms. “Naked pizza party in a while, baby,” he murmured. “How do you feel, sweetheart?”

He watched my eyes carefully, almost as if he were nervous about my answer. “Amazing,” I said softly.

Dan looked relieved. It was so unusual how he seemed so intent on reading my every reaction. I’d never felt cared for like this. I never felt like I could trust anyone so completely.

After the secrets and half-truths and jealousy that had torn my parents apart, Dan was just so honest and wholesome that I was already feeling steady about this relationship.

CHAPTER SIX

* Dan *

Waking up with Katy in my arms again made me realize that I needed this to be the way every single morning began for the rest of my life. Of course, it was too early to think with that sort of permanence, but I couldn’t help it. I was losing control.

On the other hand, I was in complete control. For once I wasn’t just driving my father’s company while working on my own technology pursuits. I had personal focus. I needed to make Katy okay with living the rich life with me, and then convince her to marry me.

Simple, I thought to myself. No problem at all. Even though she basically said flat out that fancy things make her uncomfortable.

But there must be a way. Maybe she just needed to read a few self-help books, or have me at her side. Maybe I could just go to those sorts of things alone and rush home to her afterward. There was always a way to work out these puzzles.

My sweet darling was beginning to stir in my arms. “I’m going to go make coffee, alright, baby?”

She nodded against my chest, then stuck her bottom lip out dramatically as I got out of bed. “Chilly without my Dan,” she murmured.

She called me hers. My heart nearly exploded. I chuckled while throwing on pants and a t-shirt, going out to the kitchen to put the coffee on.

Sometimes I had it set to go with a timer, but I didn’t always know where I’d be sleeping. This condo was fabulous for when I was working late, or stuck at various events, and it wasn’t worth the time to drive north to my house just to sleep and shower.

I saw Katy wave from the end of the hall, wearing just my gigantic t-shirt as she tiptoed into the washroom. Pouring the coffee, I realized I didn’t even know how she took it. I still had so much to learn about the brand new love of my life.

There was a tap at the door. I opened it to see my assistant Laura, with several folders in her hand.

She swept into the kitchen, dropping the paperwork on the marble island. “Oh good, you got my text,” she said, grabbing a mug of coffee. “The Jasper meeting has been moved to ten, so I’m glad you didn’t stay at your house last night. Since you’re the new head of the Board of Directors, they’re expecting you to give a speech about the history of your company. Now, it can be very short, but–”

She heard the bathroom door open down the hall, and spun around to see Katy. To be honest, I’m not sure which one of them looked more shocked.

“Katy, this is my assistant Laura,” I said quickly.

She just stared, practically unblinking for a second. “Head of the Board of Directors,” Katy said in a tiny voice. “Your company. You made it sound like you were just some regular business guy.”

Laura stared back and forth between the two of us. “Mr. Whittaker, I am so sorry that I intruded. I had no idea that you would have company.”

Katy gasped in shock as she recognized her, then glared at me. “You sent your assistant to my salon?”

“She said that she needed a haircut,” I said as casually as possible. “I thought I might as well suggest you.”

“I’d been looking for a new stylist anyway,” Laura said quickly, but Katy held up her hand.

“I’m leaving.” S

he walked into the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
