“Who said anything about behaving?” I whispered to him coyly as I sauntered to the door swinging my hips provocatively. He growled a low growl and grabbed my hips to pull them back into his crotch which had grown hard and ready. I giggled and wiggled my hips against him before saying, “food first and misbehaving later ace.”
He sighed and let me go, holding the door open for me. We walked down the stairs and into the living room. Chris’s face was a picture, his eyes bulging and mouth dropped open in shock. Robyn sat smiling a huge knowing smile.
“See you later guys.” I called out as Joe held the door open for me and we made our way down the path to his waiting Range Rover.
When he said boat I had expected some kind of row boat or small motorised thing with two seats and a steering wheel. Boy was I wrong. This was a massive white beast of a yacht with blue and white leather sofas on deck and highly polished walnut finish to add that look of boating sophistication. There were steps running off the main deck down into a living room area. The latest high tech electronics were here, the wide screen TV, stereo system and speakers to name a few all showcased in shiny dark woods and cream leather. Doors leading off it no doubt led to bedrooms and bathrooms but I didn’t like to pry.
“Must be a pretty rich friend of yours to have all this.” I said as I glanced around in awe.
“It’s not the biggest yacht I’ve been on but it’ll do for today.” He replied flippantly.
Well it was the first bloody yacht I’d ever been on at all. Not that I was going to voice that out loud.
“Are you driving?” I mused.
“No.” he laughed, “Someone else has that pleasure, you have me all to yourself this afternoon.”
He pulled me in for a hug and kissed the top of my head.
“Come on lets go back up on deck, I think lunch might be ready for us.”
Sure enough as we walked back up onto the main deck I noticed a table set for dinner and a young guy dressed in a waiter’s outfit setting plates and fussing over cutlery. There was a bottle of champagne chilling on ice in a stand next to the table.
“Wow, I’d have been happy with a drive through burger you know.” I said looking up at him in amusement.
No one had ever pulled out all the stops like this for me before. Even Adam’s proposal had been a clumsy affair involving a disastrous picnic plagued with flying ants and a cheap bottle of cava that exploded all over me and ruined my new silk blouse. This was something else.
Joe pulled a chair out for me as the waiter went inside then reappeared with plates of delicious food for us. He poured the champagne for Joe to taste then for me. I wasn’t used to sipping wine, I was definitely a gulp it down and get the party started kinda girl.
“This is amazing, I’m not used to all this.”
Joe put his glass down and looked over at me, “You don’t have to change the way you are just because of money you know. We might be on a million dollar yacht but that doesn’t mean shit.”
“That’s easy for you to say you have money.” I said.
“I haven’t always had money Ella. Some of us have just caught a lucky break at some point in our lives. Money isn’t everything.”
I wanted to push him further and find out what his life had been like without money. What life had he had then, what happened? But I could see his guard had come up so I dropped it and made a comment about the fantastic scenery, the iconic buildings drifting past us.
“I can’t believe people live in this city, one of the greatest cities in the world and they take all this for granted.” He sighed.
“I know, sometimes I just like to go out in my lunch hour and just walk around, looking around me and take it all in.”
He smiled over at me, “It’s breath taking” he said, those piercing grey eyes of his staring right into mine making me feel weak and giddy. I thought he was breath taking right now and I had to stop myself from launching across the table to devour him.
The afternoon was like a dream; we ate, laughed, cuddled and were just at ease in each other’s company. As the sun started to set over the city I sighed, relaxed in his arms as he stroked my hair and made me feel all sleepy.
“I suppose we’d better be getting back.” He said with the same reluctance I felt.
“Yeah, I suppose.”
“I’ll take you on a prope
r yacht another day, give you a real taste of the high life.”
“Whatever Rockefeller, do I look like a girl that’s impressed with all that?”
“No, but I want to spoil you.” He gave me a gentle kiss on my lips and I pulled him down towards me, deepening the kiss and getting lost in him.
