Obsessively Yours (Joe & Ella 1)

What are you on about? What wrong number????
Was he freaking kidding me right now? Playing dumb was not gonna get him off the hook. No way, I’d been a complete fool with Adam but my doormat days were over.
Give my regards to Becky asshole.
I typed
Who the fuck is Becky? What is going on??
My mobile rang, it was him. I killed the call only for him to ring through again. No way, not happening I wasn’t going to answer and let him worm his way out of this one.
Answer your fucking phone.
No!
Kim came into the ladies at this point and called out, “Ella are you okay? I saw you come running in here a few minutes ago and you looked upset, is everything alright?”
“I’m okay,” I managed to say on a hiccup as I kept declining the constant calls Joe was making to my phone now.
“Just got a really shitty text that’s all. I’ll live.” I heard her exit the ladies and I knew it would be all around the office in minutes that Ella was locked in the loos and she was crying over a text.
I rang Robyn on her work number praying she hadn’t gone for her lunch break. She answered on the third ring and after hearing my utter despair she agreed to meet me for a lunch time drink at the pub close to her coffee shop.
When I showed her the text a half hour later her mouth dropped open.
“I can’t believe it, he seemed so genuine, so into you Ella. I just don’t get it.”
“Me neit
her.” A tear fell down my cheek and I hastily wiped it away. I didn’t want to use up any more tears on men. I’d already done my fair share of crying lately.
“Why do I have such crap luck with men Robyn? What is it about me that attracts the cheats? Do I look like a push over? Maybe I give off some sort of vibes telling them I’m easily fooled.”
“Don’t be so daft, Ella. You are trusting, but you shouldn’t see that as a bad thing. They’re the losers, not you. Don’t doubt yourself for a second, please.” She smiled at me then her smile dropped to a scowl.
“Brace yourself Elle, he’s just walked in and he looks pissed.”
I grabbed my drink and pulled Robyn towards the beer garden, I needed to get away and there was as good a place as any to hide. So much for my plan, within minutes he was breathing down my neck.
“Why are you sending me weird texts, ignoring my calls and running away from me…..again?”
I huffed in exasperation and turned to him ready to burn holes right through him with my furore. But looking at him only made me prickle with sadness and I started sobbing into my hands like a stupid girl.
He sank onto the bench next to me and stroked my back tenderly.
“Talk to me beautiful girl, what the hell is going on here. I’m lost.”
I couldn’t speak I was too busy snivelling into my hands. Robyn passed me a tissue from her handbag and replied for me.
“She got your text meant for Becky, don’t play innocent you asshole. You screwed up big man and now we all know what a lying cheating man-whore you really are.”
He scrunched his face up in disbelief looking from me to Robyn and back again.
“Seriously, I’ve still got no idea what you women are on about. I haven’t texted anyone today apart from replying to your weird rants earlier. I don’t know anyone called Becky, and one of you needs to start talking some sense soon because this is really starting to piss me off.”
I threw my mobile across to him, the text message open for him to read.
His eyes grew wide in disbelief, “I didn’t send this, its bull shit.”
