Luca - Page 76

“You really think you could bring it like that every time?” I joked. “Then damn I’m in.” He slapped my ass and shoved me out of the shower then wrapped me in a huge fluffy towel and kissed my forehead.

“I think I need to up my workouts to keep up with your demands.” He winked then rubbed me dry before drying himself and walking me to the closet.

We both dressed, me in one of his dress shirts and him in a suit ready for work, and then headed downstairs together for something to eat. His hand never left mine, and as we walked through the kitchen door we saw Freddie sat at the table wearing the biggest shit eating grin.

“Don’t you have any food at your own place?” Luca scowled at him.

“Yeah but I prefer eating with you guys…Chloe I love seeing you here again. It’s all just right.”

I was expecting

Luca to say something sarcastic or give a moody grunt but he didn’t, he squeezed my hand and smiled a panty melting smile at me.

“It is right.” I smiled back and reached up on my tip toes to kiss him.

Luca handed me my favourite caramel latte and leaned back against the kitchen counter as he sipped his strong black coffee.

“I hate leaving you but I have to go into work today.”

“It’s okay, you don’t need to watch me all day I’ll be fine.”

I knew he was being overly protective of me after the whole Sanchez incident. I hadn’t been alone in his house since that day. To be honest I wasn’t sure how I felt about being alone but I needn’t have worried.

“I’ve got a few men staying behind to check the house. They won’t get in your way they’ve been told to stay outside unless it’s absolutely necessary for them to come in. I’ve also texted Gina to come over and visit. Not to babysit you just to…you know, keep you company.”

He looked nervous like I was about to go off and pull my usual independent crap but I held back because I knew this meant a lot to him, to have me comfortable in his home.

“That’s sweet and I’d love to have lunch and a girlie day with Gina. I promise I’ll stay here and behave.”

He shook his head in amusement.

“You never behave, but I’m used to it.”

When Luca and Freddie left I couldn’t deny that my nerves became slightly frayed. I looked around me and told myself over and over that I was safe, there was a new security system in place, more cameras and a few panic buttons had been placed strategically around the house for my piece of mind. Luca couldn’t have done anymore to put me at ease. I walked to the back door to check the locks and squealed when I saw a darkly dressed shadow.

“Sorry Miss Ellis, I’m just checking the yard. I didn’t mean to scare you.” A deep voice said as one of Luca’s men bowed at me and moved away from the house.

“That’s okay.” I shouted through the glass of the door, and made my way to the living area to get lost in a Netflix box set.

It didn’t take long for Gina to come over and join me. We spent the rest of the day eating junk food and getting lost in our TV marathon. Before we knew it the sun had set and it was time for Gina to head off to work and me to do….well what was I going to do? Maybe check in with Luca and see when he would be home but I felt kinda useless right now. I needed to get a job, or keep doing the books for Gina at the very least. I had to do something productive or I’d go insane.

I waved Gina off and picked up my phone to call Luca. He answered on the second ring.

“You okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just bored. I think I need a job.”

“You can always help me here if you like?” He offered but I felt like I needed something else that was just mine, something outside of his world.

“Hmm I’ll think about it. Are you working late?”

“No angel I’ll be home in an hour or two okay. Want me to pick up something to eat on the way home?"

We really were heading towards domesticated bliss, who’d have thought it?

“Chinese sounds good.”

I smiled at the thought of him coming home and feeding me and how much I wanted to curl up next to him and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
