“Enough chat, time for bed.” He whispered in his husky sexy voice.
“Yes please!” I purred as he ran his soft lips across my jaw and down my neck. I was more than ready to spend the rest of the night with my skin as close to his as I could get, to feel him inside me and to know that without a doubt he was mine, I was his and we were each other’s.
“I want you to grab my hair and grab my ass just like you grabbed my heart. Pull me close and never ever let me go. I want to feel you inside me, stretching me, stroking me, making me come because of what you do to me. You always take my breath away, so make me breathless and then bring me back to life.”
He growled his response and carried me up the stairs, throwing me down on the bed ready to take what he needed and give me what only he could give me. This right here was everything. This was my happy ever after.
Chapter 47
Epilogue
One year later…
I skipped my way through the doors of the club barely able to contain the excitement bubbling away inside me.
“Afternoon Chloe.”
I turned to the left to see Dylan the new guy casually leaning up against the deserted bar and checking out something on his phone.
“That’s Mrs Marquez to you.” Marco snapped back at him, then gave me a sly smile.
“Easy tiger.” I joked. “Is he in his office?”
“No idea, but head on up. You’ll find him eventually.”
“Thanks Marco…oh and one more thing. Tell Gina I said thanks when you see her next. She’ll know what it’s about.”
Marco frowned at me but he didn’t argue. I knew Marco and Gina had something going on and they were keeping it on the down low, but in true girlfriend style she told me everything. I was so pleased my best friend had found such a great guy to take care of her. Marco was one of the good guys and I knew that things were getting serious pretty fast. At first I’d thought they were like chalk and cheese, but then were they really so different? Okay so Gina had her business but that didn’t define her. When all was said and done she had a heart of gold and was loyal to the end; traits that could also be used to describe Marco. So in truth they were a match made in heaven.
As to why I wanted to say thank you? Well that was all down to an anonymous envelope I received through the post the day before containing mug shots of one Teresa Burman. The photocopied documents attached showed she’d been arrested for prostitution, possession of a class A drug and intent to supply. I had to admit the news certainly gave me a lift, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer rat but when I saw the name of the arresting officer in amongst the paper work I had to smile at the helping hand that Karma was given. Officer Anthony DiMarco; who’d have thought Gina’s brother was a cop. Not me. I was grateful for the information nonetheless, and the thought that my ex best friend would be spending
time repenting her many, many sins made it even sweeter.
I crept up the back stairs listening out for any tell-tale signs that Luca was up here but it was all quiet. I pushed my way through his office door, but apart from the glow of his screens the room was void of life; perfect. I took the plastic gift I’d brought round especially for him to see and gazed around the room. Where would be a good place to put it for him to find? I wanted to surprise him but I didn’t want to just put it in a box and present it to him. I glanced at the crystal tumblers that he kept with his whisky and decided that was the best place to choose. Luca always poured himself a few fingers of whisky when he came into his office so I balance it across the tumbler closest to the edge.
Just as I was about to head out and see where in the building he was hiding, Luca burst through the door and upon seeing me his face lit up. He walked straight over to me, cupped my face and kissed me like he hadn’t seen me for weeks. It had been three hours.
“I’ve missed you.”
“You haven’t been gone that long.”
“Any time away from you is too long.”
Luca had turned extremely soppy and sentimental since we’d married six months ago. I think he was making up for all the years he’d held his feelings back. I wasn’t complaining though, I loved his possessive overprotectiveness. I put my own hands on either side of his ruggedly handsome face and kissed him back with just as much longing.
“I love you husband of mine.”
He smiled and asked if I wanted a drink. I shook my head but bit my lip as he headed for his drinks cabinet and the gift I’d left for him. He looked down at it and seemed to freeze, a deeply furrowed frown appearing on his forehead. He picked up the white plastic stick and turned to me.
“Is this yours?”
“Well I should hope so, unless there are any other women in the building who’d be leaving random pregnancy tests in your office?”
His eyes bugged out of his head.
“It’s got a cross on it. It says pregnant…are you…?”
I nodded still biting my lip as the reality started to filter into his stunned brain and he gasped, then looked from me to the test and then back to me again. Then his face erupted into the biggest shit eating grin I’d ever seen on anyone.
