“We’re gonna have a baby? Fuck Chloe I’m gonna be a Dad?”
I couldn’t hold back my own smile now as I revelled in his excitement. I knew this was what he’d dreamed of; he talked about babies and kids incessantly. One of the older guys who worked for him had recently become a Dad again and seeing Luca look at the baby when he’d brought her in to show us had melted my heart. He even asked if he could hold her, and I’d never thought in a million years Luca would be the baby type. But that day it was glaringly obvious that my husband was broody, and who was I to deny him what he wanted.
“You’ll make the best Daddy ever Luca.” I smiled as he peered back down at the test in awe, not quite believing what he was seeing.
Then he was walking over to me, and he pulled me into the warmest hug as he lifted me off the ground.
“I fucking love you Mrs Marquez. You have made me the happiest man alive.”
“This is just the start of our new adventure.” I said as he placed me back down like I was made of glass, and stroked his hand over my flat belly.
“We’ve got a peanut, but soon it’ll grow into a brazil nut, then a walnut…and before we know it there’ll be a little Marquez running round driving us all nuts.”
He laughed and nuzzled my neck as we held each other close breathing each other in, then stood back and looked me straight in the eye as he said, “Thank you” to me, it was clear from the sincerity in his face that today I’d given him the world. He deserved it though because he was my world, and I couldn’t wait to share this new chapter in our lives with him. Our story would never end, the happy ever after would just become happy moments in our forever because for Luca and I there was no beginning and no ending. Our story spanned a lifetime and we’d always be together. Soul mates never part and a love like our never dies.
I met the love of my life, my soul mate when I was eight years old. Some people search a whole lifetime to find what we had found so early in our lives. Luca and I were always written in the stars.
