a cleaning lady to come three times a week, and then a professional nanny to help us set up the baby’s room, and assist me with every single part of the transition to motherhood.

Basically, I was completely spoiled rotten.

“Who knows?” I said with a smirk. “Maybe the first child is the easy one, and the second one will be a holy terror.”

“Then we’ll hand him over to Taylor to babysit now and then,” Vaughan chuckled.

Taylor, Bob, and some of the other guys from Vaughan’s best crew had already built a huge jungle gym play set in the backyard, complete with a gazebo.

“I can’t imagine what you guys are going to build if the second one is a boy,” I laughed.

I reached for a tissue to dab the tears from my eyes, and by the time I looked back, Vaughan was naked. He slipped under the covers, sliding my nightgown off without words.

As we made love gently, I could feel his hunger take on the same intensity as it had when I was pregnant with Nora. It was beautiful to know that he was just as attracted to me as ever. But when I was pregnant, his lust was deeper, more primal.

His sweet but slightly obsessive nature made me feel absolutely safe, especially now that it was more than just us.

I had known that we belonged together from the first time he dropped to his knees to ask me for a strange date. Now that our lives were completely intertwined, I could barely remember what the world was like before he caught me as I was about to fall down in the back of Ray’s Diner.

Before I fell in love with the most incredible man in the world, and learned that I didn’t need to change my personality in order to be good enough for him, or anyone else.
