As we slipped into the backseat, Julia said, “This car has even more gadgets than the last one.”

“Precisely. Like this.” I hit a button and the opaque privacy shield was raised between us and Nathan.

Pulling her against me, I was happy when her arms immediately circled my neck. “I can’t believe you introduced me as your girlfriend,” she whispered.

“You loved it. I saw your eyes light up.”

She nodded, then kissed me, telling me more clearly than any words that she was indeed my girlfriend. She was already mine completely.

Julia

On television and in the movies, chefs are always yelling orders. I’d never really understood that, until I saw Matt’s large team. When we’d first walked in, it had been really loud. I guess you had to be a little brusque.

With all of the people he employed, and all of his many projects, he was still making time for me. Somehow, I was already a priority in his life. That had impressed me even more than those wildly decadent jelly beans.

And then when he introduced me to the entire kitchen as his girlfriend, my heart melted. I was important to him. He was already changing his life to fit me into it. I was falling so hard, so fast, that I knew that real love was just around the corner.

My heart was still a puddle floating around in my chest when the car stopped. Matt helped me out, then led me through a small park to a hill at the edge of town.

The moon was almost full over the trees, and he guided me straight to a large rosebush.

“I double checked. This is a real one,” he chuckled.

The light perfume of the pink blooms hovered in the air around us as Matt squeezed my hand. I’d never held hands with anyone so much, and the connection was amazing.

“I don’t even care that I’m overdoing it with the moonlight and roses junk,” Matt said, sweeping me into his arms. “You inspire me, Julia. I haven’t felt this excited about the future in ages.”

“I’ve never dated a guy who was so unbelievably sweet,” I said, running my hands through his hair.

“I brought you here to the park to kiss you again specifically so that I couldn’t go any further.” His eyes darkened as those huge hands gripped my waist. “And now I’m trying to think of how much I can get away with out here.”

My head tipped back as I laughed, giving him the opportunity to kiss the base of my throat and work his way up. But instead of meeting my lips, he circled down to my cleavage, kissing and nuzzling until I was quivering in his arms.

When his mouth pressed to mine again, I could feel his heat. Matt was absolutely hungry for me. What surprised me most was that I was equally starving, craving his touch.

The sensation of his tongue against mine weakened my knees until he was holding me against him for support. The huge ridge of his erection branded my hip, and I realized he was right. If we were anywhere near a bed, I’d be tearing off our clothing already.

His warm hand slid up my side, then paused just under my breast. How sweet that he waited for permission. “Yes,” I murmured against his lips.

I thought he was going to caress me through my dress, but instead his

hand moved up, then under the fabric, and into my bra. Gasping as his fingers brushed my sensitive nipple, I moaned in his arms.

“So sexy,” he murmured. “Julia, you have no idea what you do to me.”

I boldly rubbed my hip against his length. “I think I have some idea.”

I gasped again as he pinched my nipple lightly, just enough to make me cry out. His other hand slipped down, hitching up my skirt to grab my ass through my panties.

“You already mean so much to me, sweetheart,” he breathed against my cheek. “I know it’s fast, but my heart is already yours.”

I couldn’t even speak, simply nodding my response. Time dissolved as he kissed me and caressed me in the moonlight, melting my body and my mind. Having such a huge, powerful man being so tender with me was captivating.

He said that I was his. And I was under his spell as well, and didn’t even care. We belonged together in every possible way, and even though it was lightning quick, we were already a couple.
