“You’re like this even when we’re together for a week straight,” she laughed.

We settled side by side on the couch, with her head on my shoulder. “And to think that we met just down the hall,” I murmured, kissing the top of her head.

“I heard you, you know,” she whispered. “When you and Gary were coming down the hall. You said you’d only actually do the show if you were partnered with me.”

“You little sneak,” I said, trying to sound stern.

“People don’t notice when I lurk,” she said. “But I knew there was something between us right away.”

“I knew that you belonged to me from the second I saw you lie about the sugar cookie thing in front of the cameras,” I said gently.

“Someday I’ll actually learn to bake for you and the kids,” she laughed.

“That’s okay, sugar. You’re all the sweetness I need.”
