“Your sex life isn’t pathetic. It’s just subdued. We need to bring it to life. Inject it with some color.”

“Is that a tattoo shop reference?”

“I bet those men would love to inject you with some cream.”

Now it’s my turn to snort. Oh God, the thought of any one of them pumping me full of cum has me crossing my legs. And what about eight of them, one after another. I’d become a vessel of their pleasure, so messy and sticky.

I fully place the blame for my filthy thoughts on Luna and her crazy ideas.

“No one is injecting me with anything,” I say as heat spreads over my cheeks. “Especially between my legs. My body is a temple of isolation, and it’s going to stay that way.”

“You make it sound totally awesome,” Dawn says, dragging out the last word sarcastically. “I can completely understand why you’d want to remain in your nun-like state when you have eight potentially awesome fuck-buddy candidates under your nose on a daily basis.”

“They’re not fuck buddy candidates. They’re workmates. You can’t look at all men as just dicks on legs, Dawn. They have brains, you know. They have wants and needs and aspirations, just like us.”

It’s at that moment that a big warm hand rests gently on my shoulder, and I almost jump out of my skin. My phone tumbles out of my hand as I swivel, clattering onto the bench, but it’s forgotten when I find myself staring straight into the warm honey eyes of Noah.

Oh shit.

How long was he behind me listening?

I can hear Dawn’s muffled voice coming from the phone, but I’m completely mesmerized. The drumbeat of my heart is the volume of club music in my ears. “We’re going to the Red Devil. You want to join us?”

I shake my head, but that’s where I’m supposed to be meeting Dawn. I guess we’ll need to change our plans. “I’m meeting a friend,” I manage to say, but my voice is a ridiculous breathy whisper that sounds like I’m asking for sex.

Oh damn, I wish I was asking for sex.

I wish I were begging for it, and Noah was looking down at me, biting his lip before agreeing to fuck me senseless.

When Noah draws his hand back, I feel the loss of his connection more keenly than I ever have. “Your friend can come too, especially if it’s Dawn. She’s got some crazy energy.”

I snort because that’s a perfect description of my friend. “Maybe,” I say. “She’s still working.”

Noah nods, sliding his hand into the pocket of his snug black jeans. He’s so tall that I’m craning my neck to look up at him, and with the sun behind his body, he’s illuminated like an angel in an ancient icon. A dark angel, maybe.

“Well, the offer’s there.” He glances over his shoulder to where the rest of my workmates are standing. Oh hell. I really need to pick a place to talk about sex that isn’t so close to my place of employment. Or maybe just stop talking about sex altogether. I’ve stopped actually doing it, so maybe ceasing the verbalizing won’t be so hard.

Ugh.

“Okay, thanks. I better get this.” Fumbling around behind me, I finally grasp the warmth of my phone and put it to my ear. Noah nods, already turning to return to his friends, and my breath leaves my mouth in an overwhelmed whoosh.

“Was that one of the guys from Ink Factor?” Dawn giggles. “Did he seriously just come up behind you while you were talking about sex with them?”

I cover my face with my free hand, curling my body forward. “Yes. Oh my God. I’m so embarrassed. After they overheard me calling them deities, they’re going to think I have a weird sexual fixation.”

“Don’t be embarrassed,” Dawn says. “They know how hot they are. They won’t be surprised to hear that you agree. And we are totally still going to the Red Devil.”

“WE ARE NOT! There is no way I can face them all now. Noah’s going to tell them what I was saying.”

“If he heard something. The chances are that his mind was somewhere else. Men aren’t renowned for their concentration or their ability to pick up subtle cues.”

“I don’t think my cues were subtle.” Squinting my eyes, I shudder with a surge of embarrassment that runs through every cell of my body. “Can you leave work soon? I was going to go to have a drink, but now I’m stuck on a bench until you’re done.”

“Hang on a minute.” I can hear Dawn’s steps as she investigates the whereabouts of her boss. “I think he’s gone,” she gushes happily.

“You mean he doesn’t say bye when he leaves?”

“The man has zero social skills. I’ll be with you in ten minutes.”

I don’t know if Dawn is just a fast walker or if she’s so excited to get to the Red Devil that she runs from her office, but she’s charging toward me in a flash.
