“How are you going to work out the procreating situation?” she asks as the new waitress places our cups on the table.

“We’ve talked about it. They want to take it in turns so that they can each guarantee a child,” I say. “But I’ve told them that there is no way I could manage to have eight children, and anyway, there could be multiples, and that scares the living daylights out of me.”

Luna’s eyes flick to the ceiling. “So, four babies at least?”

“If each of the sets of twins and triplets has one each, then yeah. Four still seems crazy, but manageable.”

“Don’t forget you’re going to have an unbelievable amount of help. Just trying to get a hold of Jacqueline can be a challenge. There is always another daddy who wants a cuddle.”

We laugh and sip our drinks until it’s five minutes to Luna’s appointment. The walk to Ink Factor is short, but I soak in the sunshine and the soft breeze that ruffles our hair. People pass us, staring at the men in black who accompany us and trying to work out who we were behind the sunglasses. For a short time, I get to feel what it’s like to be Luna, trying to do everyday things as an extraordinary person.

“Are you ready?” Asher asks, gazing down at his girl with warm eyes.

“As I’ll ever be,” she says.

There’s a nervousness about her today, which I wasn’t expecting. She’s a person who believes that thinking about the things you want can make them a reality. Getting a small tattoo should be easy. But beneath it all, she’s a human just like the rest of us.

“I’ll tell you what,” I say. “I’m going to get one done at the same time,” I say.

“What? Are you serious?”

“Yeah. I’ve been meaning to for a while. I know that Carl is free now, so he can fit me in.”

“What are you going to get? Have you even thought about it?”

“I have. You know the symbol for infinity?”

“Yeah. It’s like a figure of eight.” As soon as Luna says the words, realization dawns across her face. “Wow…that is so cool.”

“It will be if I can be brave enough.”

“I think you’re a rockstar,” she grins. “The girl with the biggest harem in the Reverse Harem Ladies Club. To be honest, I thought I was going to hold that title for longer than I managed to.”

We both laugh, and Asher shakes his head. “Don’t even think about trying to add any more men to your harem, Luna.”

“Well, Elijah does have those two cute brothers,” she jokes.

When Luna is settled into Noah’s station with her tattoo design outline pressed onto her skin, I give her a little wave and make my way to the back, where I’m pretty sure I’m going to find Carl. He’s looking scruffy today and is rubbing his beard thoughtfully as he stares at a document. Despite getting this place organized, Carl still has too much to do. I make a mental note to tell Dex that it’s time for him to shoulder his way into some of the responsibility. I know that Carl will resist at first, but eventually, when he’s delegated a little, he’ll be grateful.

By loving them all, I’ve realized that sometimes we do need a push to be different.

When I knock at the door, he raises his beautiful blue eyes, and when he sees it’s me, the frown softens from his forehead. “Is Noah working on Luna?”

“Yeah. He’s all set.”

“So what can I do for you? I thought you’d be in there watching.”

“She has Asher to hold her hand,” I say. “And I wanted to ask you something.”

“Sure.”

“Will you pop my cherry?” I grin as he blinks, not getting what I’m asking.

“I’m working, baby, and anyway, I think that ship has sailed.”

“Not that cherry,” I snort. “My tattoo cherry.”

Now that has him sitting up straighter. “You want me to ink you?”

“I do.”

“Me?” With his eyes open wide, he seems almost innocent in his surprise, which doesn’t fit with the Carl I know and love. Is her seriously so surprised?

“You. I know what I want, but I’m sure you’ll have some ideas to bring it to life.”

He rests his palms on the table and pushes himself up to standing. The room suddenly feels smaller, and I get the same rush of heat between my legs that I always do when I get close to my men. My pussy is like Pavlov’s dog. It’s ridiculous.

“Tell me what you’re thinking.”

As we stroll to his booth, I explain my idea, and Carl nods with a flicker of a smile at the edges of his lips. He gets how big this is for me. He understands that this is me marking myself with my love for them. It’s about showing the permanence of our relationship.

I know I’ll be with them until I take my last breath. My eight men, to infinity and beyond.
