“It’s your turn.” The look she gives me is salacious, and I think she knows exactly what she’s doing.
“Are you using distraction as a tactic?” I ask as I draw a card. I’ve got a couple of wild cards, but I don’t want to end the game too soon.
“Me?” She blinks her eyes like she’s making fun of what I said earlier. “Never.”
“Do your worst.” When I lick my lips, her eyes follow the movement, and I grin. “Because I’ll win, while keeping my eye on the prize.” My eyes lock with hers, and there’s a moment of heat and something else that passes between us.
“All talk and no walk. Draw two.” She snaps the card down and straightens her shoulders.
My smile widens as I grab the cards, and she puts down her next card.
“So, when I win, what do I get as my prize?” I put down a reverse, then a skip, then a reverse, then a draw four. “Yellow.”
Her eyes narrow as she takes the new cards. “If…” She takes her time saying the single word. “—you win, I’ll allow you to sleep on the floor next to my bed.”
I nearly fall over from laughing so hard, and to her credit, she laughs with me.
“Oh princess, there’s only one place I’m sleeping tonight and that’s on top of you.” Her laughter dies out, and she swallows hard. My eyes don’t leave hers as I place down my next card. “Your turn.”
She starts to say something but snaps her mouth closed and places down a yellow card. After that, she looks at her cards with frustration and there’s an adorable crinkle in her nose when she does it.
“If I win, I want something special,” I say as I place a skip in yellow, then a skip in blue, then a blue card.
“You’re just trying to get in my head.” She searches her cards for a moment, then begrudgingly lays down a blue card.
“Oh no, not at all. I’m trying to get in your pants.”
“You’re so sure.” She doesn’t look up, but there’s no missing the way she licks her lips. “So what’s something special?”
“I want to kiss you.”
“I think we did that once already.” She pretends to be uninterested.
“I didn’t say where.” That gets her attention.
With her eyes on me, I place down a draw four, then hold up my last card. “Uno.”
It’s my turn, so I put down my last card and smile at my prize. I hate that the game is over, but I don’t want to wait any longer.
“I win.”
Chapter Eleven
NATALIE
“Walker.” I don’t recognize my own voice when I say his name. It comes out husky and filled with sex. Where the heck did that come from? Because I didn't even know I could talk that way.
“Princess.” He licks his lips.
Am I really thinking about letting him do this? What happened to the plan of keeping my distance? I knew it would never last. It was a bullshit plan from the start.
“Two out of three?” I try, even with my walls of defense already crumbling. His kiss was incredible, and I can’t imagine what it would be like to have his mouth between my legs.
“No,” he says instantly, not willing to budge.
“Come on. Think about it,” I taunt him.” You could get something extra if you end up winning.”
“I’m not taking that chance.” Now it’s his voice that’s husky.
Goosebumps break out across my skin, and it has nothing to do with the cold. In fact, it’s getting hot in here.
“But what if you won something for yourself?” I lick my lips. What am I doing? I could end up so much deeper, but I’m unable to control myself. My eyes drop to his crotch, and there’s no missing the hard outline of his erection.
“Like what? I might get to eat your pussy and have you suck my cock?”
“Walker!” I squeak. That’s what I was saying, but hearing it out loud is so dirty.
My nipples harden painfully just thinking about sucking him off. An image of his fingers in my hair as he controls it flashes in my mind. Would he do it and take what he wanted?
“I always like to make sure my deals are spelled out in completely transparent terms.”
“Right.” His words are the dose of reality that I really need right now.
“Even so, it’s not a chance I’m willing to take. And it wouldn’t chance anything because I’m getting my mouth on you, princess. Hell, I want that more than getting myself off. Since I heard that sweet voice of yours, I’ve wanted to know what it would sound like when you came.”
My heart starts to pound out of my chest. “Really?”
He licks his lips again, and his eyes grow heavy-lidded like he’s already thinking about what I'll taste like.
I’ve never thought of myself as sexy because I’m nothing special. I’m more like the girl next door because I ride the snowmobiles with Wilder and Connor and go hiking. Sure, I love to get dressed up sometimes and do my nails, but more often than not, I’m out with my brother or cousins. I’ve grown up hanging around with them my whole life.
