Seeing Jewell storm away when the men started to argue who would ride the bike next, Rory took off after her. “Are we leaving?”
Jewell spun on her booted heels to confront him. “I am. You can catch another ride back.”
“Who am I supposed to ride back with? You’re seriously going to leave me stranded here?”
“Stud keeps extra bikes; ask him for one. Throw in another couple of lessons,” she snarled.
“I was going to tell you I had a license—”
“When?”
“When you asked. You never asked, Jewell. You’ve been judging me since the moment we met.”
“I have not.”
“You have placed me on this imaginary base level while you think The Last Riders are above me.”
“If that’s true, why did I tell Sex Piston to make the deal with you?”
“Because you’re honest even when you’re hurt.”
“I’m not hurt.”
“You’re hurt because I didn’t tell you. I’m sorry.”
“I’m not hurt. I’m fucking pissed that you’re the first man I trusted outside of the club, and you lied to me.”
“I didn’t fucking lie,” he argued. “If you had asked, or anyone at the club had asked, I would have said I have a license.”
“Omission is lying.”
“Bullshit. You don’t have a problem being honest over which man is better in bed, but you do have a problem with guarding your feelings about me.”
“You’re overestimating how good you are. Just because I let you fuck me doesn’t mean I have any feelings for you. Fucking anyone has no meaning for me other than getting off. Last night, it was with you. Tonight, it’ll be someone else.”
Rory narrowed his eyes on her. “You’re not going to fuck someone else as long as we have this thing going on between us.”
“There isn’t shit going on between us.” Jewell shrugged before turning around and walking off again.
Rory stayed where he was, refusing to go after her. “I mean it, Jewell. Don’t try it,” he called after her.
Her only response was to raise her middle finger in the air to flip him off.
Watching her angrily walk off, Rory knew she was planning on fucking around tonight just to prove the point that she could do whatever the hell she wanted. The woman was unaware of exactly who she had turned her back on. The Last Riders might share, but Predators didn’t share what belonged to them.
Chapter Thirty
Cursing herself for her stupidity, Jewell arrived back at the club to find Nickel on watch at the front door. She was hoping it would be Puck. As good as Puck fucked, Nickel was better though. She needed one of the brothers to take her mind off Rory.
Flouncing inside after Nickel opened the door, she went to her room to get changed. She locked her door in case Rory was stupid enough to break the rules again and went into the bathroom to take a long shower. After shampooing and conditioning her long mass of red hair, she chose her favorite body wash to clean every spot on her body.
Still angry when she got out of the shower, Jewell plugged in her dryer and got to work. A good thirty minutes later, she was finally satisfied as her hair fell to her shoulders in soft waves. Usually, she kept her hair short during the summer months; this last summer, she hadn’t. As the days got warmer, she would cut it to half its length.
She moved to her closet to pull out the outfit she had already decided to wear tonight. After smoothing on lotion, that had the same scent as her body wash, into her skin, Jewell then tugged on the tight-fitting, black leather pants.
Standing in front of the mirror, she turned to each side to make sure the crisscrossing leather strings lay flat against her skin, exposing the flesh beneath. Content, she put on the electric blue midriff top and pulled the two drawstrings taut, which tightened the top until her braless breasts nearly spilled over the scalloped material. Pulling the strings to her back, she crossed them before winding the ties to the front to tie the strings in a bow.
She slipped on her tallest pair of high heels and then went to her nightstand to put the teddy bear back in the drawer where she kept it in. Checking to make sure she hadn’t smudged her makeup, she went downstairs.
The silent club got on her nerves. Stymied by everyone being gone, she went behind the bar to make herself a drink. She had just made herself a green demon when Nickel came in from the kitchen.
Jewell gave him a welcoming grin. “I was wondering where you were.”
“I was doing security. Rider just came to replace me.” Nickel gave her suspicious glance. “Why?”
“I was looking for you to wash my back.”
Nickel took in her outfit with a lecherous grin. “Damn, I wish you had waited.”
